Front wheels damaged from rocks stuck in brake…
Anyone else have brutal wheel barrel damage from road rocks getting stuck in the brake caliper and rim?
The caliper is so tight to the wheel that the rocks flying up in there, get stuck and rub against the wheel, machining a gouge into the entire barrel.

I am pretty concerned about the rotor, there was a small sanding rock chip stuck behind the dust plate and rotor too I found.
I’ll be taking it to the dealer for warranty. 300k car with 4000km and the rims and scratched to hell is a bit ridiculous.
They need to increase the clearance between the caliper and rotor, perhaps the dust plate too. Or peak the caliper so the rocks fall off left and right and don’t get straight into the void and get jammed.
Edit,
Its not just scratched, the rock actually machined a 0.5 to 1mm gouge into the barrel of the rim.

I have had this happen once and screeched super loud but the rock ejected itself eventually. No issue.

yup...i had it happen as well....both front wheels - carbon brakes, tts exclusive wheels - i didn't bother asking porsche, but did ask insurance and parts dept. - i believe they are $7k (or maybe they were $5k?) each - i decided to leave them alone

Three Wheelin'
I had something similar happen to me in my 991.2 Targa with Ceramic brakes. I was literally 100 yards from the dealer when it happened, so I pulled in to their lot and the service department took it in. There was a pebble/rock wedged in between the rotor and the caliper. It made a horrific noise, see photo of pebble . They needed to pry open the caliper to release the pebble. Fortunately no damage to anything, but scary AF when you hear that grinding and squealing sound..

Tire and wheel doesnt cover brakes and rotors which is where the real damage can happen, but it would replace the wheel for sure. I have never seen a wheel get damaged from these pebbles only rotors, so this is a first for me.

This happened to me a few weeks ago on both front wheels at the same time. Worst noise I’ve ever heard. Porsche warranty doesn’t cover don’t even waste your time.

Never have seen this before……thanks for sharing……..don’t see Porsche covering this as it falls under stuff happens while driving, ie pebbles from road hitting the car, etc…..the hazards of driving……..

It’s an issue that needs a design fix for sure.
Brand new car and the front wheels are both Fd with 4000km?? I shouldn’t have to paint my wheels every oil change. This is not normal wear and tear from driving. This is the result of trying to stuff massive brakes into a wheel with 2-3mm clearance. They need a plastic guard or to re design the caliper to keep the rocks out.
I have cup2s on, they stick so many rocks.. Not sure how they even fly up inside the rim either, it doesn’t make sense.
