Frustrating buying journey
Placed the order along with a $2k deposit for my first Porsche (PTS TTS) in April of 2022. We agreed on MSRP plus a $3,500 wrap. The sales rep knew his stuff and was very helpful in walking through the options. I stayed in close communication with him just so he knew I was an active and serious buyer. About nine months in, I saw a credit back in my checking account for the $2k. Called the sales rep and he said they were refunding all deposits so they’re not sitting on a bunch of cash they can’t recognize on the books. No big deal, but just poorly communicated.
In April of 2023, he called and said they had my allocation and that I needed to come into the dealership within the next few days with 10% down payment and to solidify the order. I was there the next day… He proceeded to tell me that their sales manager wanted to give my allocation (that I had been waiting a year for) to another buyer that had a history with the dealership. Said he talked him out of it, but that I would need to buy some stupid Porsche Design watch for $10k and do an $8k wrap. I asked to speak with the sales manager because I felt like they were retrading the deal one year in. The sales manager wouldn’t meet with me and just communicated with the rep via text. Adding insult to injury, the sales rep said he was really hoping one of his customers would give him their Porsche Design watch as a gift. I was speechless and didn’t really respond to that one.
Whatever, they had me by the ***** and we settled on the watch plus a $5k wrap. The allocation was set to be built in the fall, which was ultimately pushed to December and now January 2024.
Fast forward to September 2023, I lob an email to the rep just to check in and get a reply that he’s no longer with the company. I called the front desk and ask for the sales manager to call or have the new rep call me. Sales manager doesn’t bother to callback and I get the name of the new rep by texting the old one on his mobile.
Given how the market has opened up a bit, I would pull the plug on these a-holes and find another MSRP deal. Problem is I don’t want to lose my PTS allocation and definitely don’t want to lose the $27k down payment! It’s a well optioned model.
Thanks for letting me vent. Appreciate your thoughts… maybe I’m being overly sensitive here, but just feels like it could have EASILY been handled so much better. And most of the time wouldn’t have cost them a dime.

Nothing is showing up in TYD so far... anyone know when it will?
Build code is PRPEVHZ6. It's a fully loaded Etna Blue cab debadged with exclusive design wheels and brown heritage interior. I went back and forth on different color/build options for the better part of a year and love where it landed. I like the lines on the coupe better, but top down in the Florida or Minnesota sun is hard to beat.
I think the next build will be a Targa for Momma. She currently drives an SQ8 and I think would love to have a little go-cart.

At this point, I’m just planning to wait it out and then never do business with them again. Will take it to Porsche Naples for service when we’re there in the winter. I will also reveal the dealership name once I have the car and title in hand!

I am sorry you are having this kind of experience. The recent years placed some sales people and dealerships into a different position than before, where it seems like service and relationship building is no longer the focus for ongoing business. I would be appalled by the comment about gifting him a watch so good for you to just ignore. Unfortunately in this day and age, either you suck it up and get what you want or you take your time, walk away and try it with a different dealership who might treat you better.

I know you said the build date is January 2024, but I think all the PTS slots are already filled, so you aren’t getting PTS anyways for a ‘24 model.
All of the Dakars and 3RS are hogging the line.

Shrimp - not sure I’m follow you. The dealership told me several times (going back to April 2023) that my PTS slot was locked in. First December 2023 and now more likely January 2024.
Do you think that slot is actually at risk or possibly not real at all?
Wish I could just skip the middleman and communicate with someone at Porsche.

If you have received a track your dream invitation, or can confirm a build sheet showing your order is in V200 or later, that will confirm your PTS. We have 24's that we pushed to be PTS eligible early on when we got the allocations, so while shrimp money is correct that there is currently no availability, you may still have PTS if they submitted your order early enough.
Hope that helps!

If I had received this type of treatment when trying to purchase a $270K+ luxury item, I would just take my business to a completely different manufacturer at this point. I know easier said than done especially with all the emotional & time invested. So sorry to hear that this dealership put you through this....hopefully karma bites them in the a$s.

Just shot the new sales rep a text. He literally responded in 30 seconds confirming V215 with a 3/22/24 estimated arrival at the dealership. Looks like we’re in good shape unless another ship catches on fire!
Yeah, it was certainly disappointing for a car approaching $300k. I believe it’s a sales leadership/ownership issue and guarantee it will catch up with them eventually. In the meantime, I’ll just look forward to this beast arriving!
