Default 991 TT/S to 992 TT/S - Any Regrets?

Hi all,
As the title states… I’m considering ordering a ‘24 992.1TT.
I love my ‘19 991TT but I’ve never been able to hold onto a car for more than four years.
I purchased a ‘19 in late ‘19 because I wanted the last 911TT with full analog dials.
However, I’m drawn to wanting to order a ‘24TT because it may very well be the last 911TT without the assistance/addition of PHEV/Hybrid technology.

So, here are my questions/concerns:
1. How have the digital gauges held up? Have they been reliable?
2. Has anyone experienced more quality control issues with the 992 over the 991?
3. Has anyone regretted purchasing a 992TT/S over a 991TT/S?

Appreciate any insight!
Cheers\B

1. gauges are fine no problem.
2. TT/TTS are solid as they should be since they have only been making the same cars for decades. no major issues
3. No

No regrets. Best Turbo yet. I posted a detailed comparison earlier this year. The new one is better in many ways and worse only that the new gearbox feels just a little "lazier". But many things are improved.

Had both. Liked the 992 better.

Prefer the looks of the 992. Interior is more spacious in the 992 and tech is more extensive and modern which fits the TTS ethos better (conversely prefer 991 interior and minimal PCM for the GT3). Steering and handling better in the 992. Powertrain is a wash - I can't say one is better than the other.

992TTS is a far more refined car…really quite luxurious. I liked my 991 TTS but I love my 992 and it is the highway tourer of choice for me.

I had a 991.2 TTS and 992 TTS at the same time, did about 3k miles in both. Loved both, but needed to trade one in to make space for a new car.

Decided to trade in the 991, mostly because the performance of the 992 is higher and the car feels closer to a GT car (I have SPASM), and also because the 992 doesn't have any mystery mods (the 991 does).

I miss the 991 (I like the 991 cabin better, and the 991 feels more tossable and raw), but I don't regret the decision.

After having both, the 992 8-speed PDK seems not better to me than the 991 7-speed. The newer tranny is also heavier.
Aside from that, the 992 is better by every measurable metric.
If you can deal with the PDK it’s a good call.

Both great, but (flame suit on), I liked the 1.2 better. Can't stand the shift nubbin and the digital gauges.

In Turbo's, I have had a 991.1 TT, a 991.2 TTS and now a 992 TTS, all from new.
While I occasionally miss some aspects of my 991.2 GT3 Touring, never have I missed either of the 991s or thought they were in any way objectively superior to this 992 TTS.

I'd like to hear from someone who's had the 992 turbo and then got the M engineering pdk tune to address these common sluggish gearbox complaints. Does is make a substantial difference? And at what perceived cost of longevity?

FWIW, I generally use the paddles in the PDK cars, but in the 992 TTS I usually leave it in auto and I find that it shifts perfectly in normal, sport, and sport+ modes. There's so much torque that there's flexibility regarding which gear you're in, and the car doesn't rev enough that I want to wring out the revs by using the paddles (plus I tend to bump into the rev limit, because I'm used to louder cars that have a higher rev limit).

Agreed, it has legitimate twist available everywhere in the rev range. It just seems to be a bit hesitant to downshift and really hammer that torque to the drivetrain quickly on demand, but I know that it has it right there. Just feels like it's holding back most of the time unless floored. I think that a more linear response would be welcomed.

Still have several 991's, turbo s's and gt2 rs, they are fun to drive, feel much lighter, but when I want to go real fast it's the 992, does everything better

I feel like the PDK tune is only needed if you’re doing big power.

When I was stage2 I honestly didn’t notice much improvement. The PDK shifts pretty good from the factory.

Once I did stage4 I noticed the firmness of the shifts and the PDK tune is required to hold the power.

Go for it! Everything on my car, 2 years later, works perfectly. I have 9000 miles on mine, it's been the best car I've ever owned though.... I probably say that about every car I've owned though. I much prefer the looks of the new car to the 991 Turbo S. But everyone is different, some will agree, some will not. I went not from a 991 Turbo S (which I wasn't in love with the looks of) but from a 997 Turbo S to the new car, same exact color on both. Here they are together just after I sold the 2012 car. Best wishes, really... you'd have to drive the car for 30 minutes to really know and walk around it 10X. New is nice, but that's just me. This... is my last car. I am confounded that my dealer gave me an allocation, and at a 1 1/2% discount, I never bought a car from them before, just serviced my 2012 car there.
