My Porsche dealer installed PPF on my TTS pre-delivery, as they have in past 911 pre-deliveries, only this time they had me sign a waiver alleviating them of any responsibility should there be headlight lens lamination issues down the road. A bit weird, but I did not hesitate signing.

My car is 2 years old, I drive it regularly on the highway and back roads, have about 9500 miles on it, I didn't PPF the lights and they look brand new, still.

not confirmed, but I feel the “warranty” issue with Porsche is purely for the delamination, not the material actually affecting the headlight function

It would be good to get a firm confirmation from headquarters

for now, when clients ask what would you do if your Porsche…I’d protect it with PPF 👍 because I’m very particular and the chips I’d see at night when headlights are on would bother the hell out of me

I'm sick, I know…it’s my OCD…a curse and blessing in my line of work 😊

Mine said the same.

coating should be same on all lenses, it’s simply the delamination that has everyone worried

as mentioned, even if it does delaminate, proper sanding and polishing will get you back to same appearance and new ppf becomes the top layer which is superior in every way to the OEM coating which doesn’t prevent chips

but I cannot stress enough that installer is key…for installation/removal/and repair should a delamination arise

I have zero concerns or worries about my dealer installed PPF on my headlight lens. I sleep very well at night.
Others should collect their own data and then do what they feel is best.

LOL.. Lucky for you being OCD is the same curse that the majority of all Porsche owners suffer! 😉

FWIW - I got lucky that CPO covered the replacement of both; about a $ 12K job, not a typo. There is a reason the dealer wanted a waiver.

On my 2020 992 4s I had the headlights PPfd and then a rock ruined the ppf on one of the headlights. My installer replaced the ppf with 0 delaminating. PPF them. It’s worth it.

Can you elaborate? They were replaced cause they were all chipped up from road debris?

I had two PPF installers refuse and two do it. Across 3 Porsches with PPF and 3 without, covered headlights feared better, so I'll PPF them going forward.

Default 2900 miles and no ppf

Here’s a current project at the asylum

Beautiful gentian blue 992 Carrera S with 2900 miles and no ppf yet

headlights don’t show much wear until lights are turned on

not much can be done to mitigate damages already incurred, however, we can prevent future pitting and minimize the pitting appearance by installing ppf

Ok, numerous post of the headlights cracking. It appears that many of these have been caused by the PPF. I got lucky with a CPO repair on a 2015 car, but most have not. It’s a rough spot for a SM to tell his customer PNA will not cover, so i understand the waiver request. He is playing safe. The headlights are $ 5,816, each.
If I have an issue because of rock chips, it’s a different story. I’ll take my chances on the road & claim on collision if necessary…….. or stop driving at night :-)

Default PPF removal process - Real-time video

We needed to redo a headlight ppf installation and I wanted to show the process

film was XPEL Ultimate Plus and it was on headlight for about three hours, but process is the same regardless of time

happy to report, no delamination

you’re welcome

headlight ppf makes some owners nervous, but hopefully, if in skilled hands, the process is simple and yields far more dividends than liability

just find the right installer that’s comfortable with the process
