Soul Performance Cats
Back from dealer after installing Soul Performance Sport Cats, The Porsche Mechanic was impressed on how easy they were to install and my salesmen and service advisor both said what a huge difference in sound. I have to agree much deeper raspy sound. Sound great in Sport Plus and taking off. Give a shout out to Paul at Soul Performance and the great service and product they provided. My opinion well worth the money was not looking for any horse power gain little better sound.

Hey Fellas!
Just an update for you on the CELs we've experienced on the 992 platform. It is our belief that some of the 2021 model year 992s have received revised software from factory that tightened the emission parameters, and this is no surprise considering the growing emissions restrictions in Europe and North America. The CELs did not occur on the 2020 model year vehicles during R&D, is not a consistent occurrence on the 2021 model years, and is quite rare for how many of these sport cats we have shipped out. The 200cell HJS HD cats are no doubt running the edge of what the cars' new emissions tolerances allow before throwing a P04200 and/or P04300 code for catalyst inefficiency. We have already used the largest cat possible for this car's fitment, and to use a denser cat would simply negate the benefits of sound/performance of doing high flow cats. An O2 spacer is therefore a logical option for an efficient and easy solution. O2 spacers come in varying lengths and restrictions, and the purpose is to reduce the amount of exhaust the rear oxygen sensors are reading by moving them out of the exhaust stream with the length of the O2 spacer, or narrowing the window of the exhaust reaching the O2 sensors with a smaller entry hole in the spacer. Done in just the right way for a particular car and product, it brings the readings further within spec to resolve catalyst inefficiency codes. If the spacer does not work well enough the same catalyst inefficiency codes can pop back up. If the spacer is too restrictive O2 slow response codes can occur as it has gone too far in the other direction. It is important to hone in on the unique length and restriction spacer that works for the 992 platform in combination with high flow cats, as "universal" O2 spacers are not a targeted a solution like they need to be for effectiveness on these newer cars. We have done that by working closely with a several rockstar 992 owners with 2021 model year cars that had those CELs pop up. They have been putting thousands of miles on their cars, working with us on various O2 spacer configurations to find the "sweet spot" for cars with more sensitive emission parameters. We believe we have found that sweet spot, as the CELs have not reoccurred on these cars running these particular spacers. We are making arrangements to have them handy to ship with every 992 Sport Cat order moving forwards, and to send out to any owners with sport cats that have the CEL pop on. This was a community effort with a bunch of awesome guys, and we appreciate all your patience and collaboration! We've got your back, and we always strive to be better for you and the rest of the Pcar community. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to shoot me an email at johng@soulpp.com or give me a call at 267 818 3208.

I installed the Soul Sport Cats today on my Carrera S and agree with you completely. It took longer to get my car onto my lift than it did to make the change. Start to finish just over one hour. I cant speak to any performance gain as I only have 800 miles on the odometer but yes the sound is much improved. Still pretty docile in normal mode but more aggressive in sport and sport plus. Definitely a worthwhile mod.

How about the higher flow air filters? Did you install those with the cats?

I haven't done a tune yet nor changed the air filters but it still seems to have had a seat of the pants improvement. The sound inside the car in sport is definitely more aggressive but outside it is much more noticeable. I will try to record a video in thhe next couple days and post here.

It would be nice to have a comparison between these sport cats and the ones from Fabspeed. The Soul cats look like they would last forever whereas I’ve seen a few reviews of Fabspeed products that mention failed welds. I’m also curious which ones sound better

The material and fabrication quality of the Soul product is very good. The satin finish looks good.

I want the sound comparison TBH...Both Fabspeed and Soul have great products, though Soul used to be pretty heavily the "value" proposition price wise...now that they are the same, it's definitely up to the sound!

Thank you for the kind words, everyone!
On ECU Tuning - no ECU tune is needed to prevent a check engine light, the HJS HD 200 cell cats serve that purpose. An ECU tune would unlock more power gains by making the most out of the increase in exhaust flow.
We did recently get third party dyno results from CBTuning with before and after runs on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with factory setup and then SOUL Cat Bypass Pipes and CBTuning ECU tune. Increases of over 100 whp and 215 ft-lbs of torque almost immediately in the power band completely changed the drivability of the vehicle!
We back purge our welds with Airgas ARCAL™ Prime argon - extremely pure. This ensures the welds have proper penetration without sugaring on the inside. We build and back our exhaust components for track use so the welds must be durable. Curious about back purging and how it effects the welds? Check out our article on it here. Our Signature Satin finish not only allows us to get a unique, uniform finish - but it's also part of our quality control.
On value - We're fighting to maintain the best possible pricing with the rising cost of materials, particularly the HJS catalytic converters themselves. As we grow we will look for more ways to increase our efficiency without compromising our quality - only adding to it. We do our best to prevent raising prices on existing products wherever possible. Stop in sometime again, Drew, I'd love to show you what we've got cooking since your last visit!
You should not need to remove the bumper for installation.
If anyone has any questions please let us know! We always invite you to call us to chat about your needs before making any decisions, it would be a pleasure to see if we can meet your needs or recommend a course of action to elicit the best driving pleasure.
Thank you!
-Mike
