Apologies if this ground was covered already, but I have a colleague who owns a 991 and says he scrapped the winter/summer tire thing and just got all season tires from TireMart for his car. Says that they are great and he hasn't noticed any difference.

Anybody know if all season tires exist for the 992? Just curious. Tiremart doesn't have anything.

Are you dealing with cold/snow/wet winters in the area where you live and still wanting to use/drive your 911? If yes, proper winter tires are the way to go.

All season tires on a Porsche sports car is like taking a shower with your socks on. Or a better analogy is that of using an adjustable crescent wrench on fasteners rather than a properly sized socket.

Tires are the interface to the road surface and what provide the grip. The whole point of Porsche is to maximize that driving experience and road holding capability at high levels of performance. All Seasons cannot do that. You will be effectively decreasing the tire's capability by appx 10% - maybe more. Will they work? Sure, but its not the right tool for the job.

I will happily take the advice of my trusted colleague and fellow Porsche 911 owner. Now, if winter wheels/tires didn't cost so much that would be a different story

I know that Bridgestone made an A/S fitting that could go on the 991s but I don’t think I’ve ever seen an N spec A/S tire for the 911.

Candidly, if you are concerned about tire cost you might want to look in another direction. This is not a very cost effective car.

You won't find an "N" spec all season for a Porsche 911, the engineers would scoff at that. I kid you not - and likely you would get a stern German lecture. This is what a Porsche Engineer would see at the mere mention of such!

...Tupper, you will quickly learn your idea of expense to own and operate and mod your 911 is much higher than you thought. Wait until you need your first brake job and what the dealer quotes you. LOL. If you want that pull that sucker from the garage, get some winter tires on it and give it a go! Bottom line... you will pay! LOL. = )

Expense-wise this is more like keeping a horse than a car. If the Alpins are as much fun on the 992 as they are on Cayenne, they’d be a hoot. I don’t get driving a 992 without the best shoes for it. It would be like using using slalom skis on a powder day. Or whipped cream on bologna. Honey and eggs.

Order of priority for you tupper-

1) winter wheel set with Michelin alpins
2) akrapovic with cats
3) tune
...
9999) all season tires. you are setting yourself up to fail if you prioritize this any higher

This won't help with your concerns about cost, but the Michelin Alpins are only available on the 20/21s, not the smaller (and cheaper) 19/20s.

I think the OP doesn’t need our opinions whether he/she can use all season tires or not, the question is simply if applications are available for 992.

Certainly all season tires will work as long as you find the right sizes.

The same theory goes for using regular gas, cheap motor oils, and many other things that are alternatively cheaper. At the end of the day, as long as safety and performance aren’t your top priorities, that will all be fine.

Tires wear out, if you have a set for winter, a set for summer, Your cost/wear is spread out over 2 sets of tires over time.
