PSE w/ Soul Cats or Akrapovic w/ stock cats

BUT dont you also need M-Engineering with both of the sport cats to eliminate CEL’s?

Not all sport cats cause codes. Pre 2022 cars were less sensitive to cat changes. Early Soul cats threw codes when used on 2022+ cars, this has since been rectified I believe. Akra were not known to throw codes.

Yes, we've done many. High flow is really sporty/aggressive and the competition link pipes make it pretty moded turbo spool sounding.
You can hear that combo at 1:54 here: https://youtu.be/hDc5Lsnnc7U?si=rSr0phgO7lB66gQ9&t=114
We chose to focus on muffler sections given the complexity of emission regulations but still a lot of insight, here's the link for those interested: https://flat6motorsports.com/pages/992exhaustseries

I have done both of these combos. The biggest improvement to sound was stock cats with an Akra catback. It sounded much better than the factory PSE. Volume increase of 20-25% normal conditions but it was a loud cold start. The Soul sport cats with factory PSE gave the better performance but only adds maybe 15% volume of the existing sound when matched with the factory exhaust.
if you are looking to change the sound you need the catback. If you are happy with the factory exhaust sound but want a minor bump in volume and value the added performance then go with the cats and factory PSE. Or just go big and do cats and catback.

Can someone help give clarity to Akra cats vs the Soul PP cats? Are they essentially equal in terms of function, with the only difference the cost and branding?

Similar products. They both use HJS catalysts. Akrapovic is a global leader in quality/craftsmanship but for a simple part, the Soul's are a better value if you're looking to save money somewhere. A lot of our customers who do both end up doing the Soul link pipes. The finishes are pretty similar too so they don't stick out as being different. The Akrapvoic link pipes do however have heat shielding on them. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Akra costs more but has more of an OE looking fit and finish. Soul has more of an aftermarket look but has a very nice fit and finish with good looking welds. Verdict is out on satin finish. I think soul looks great if combined with a Soul catback for the complete system. In short, the difference between the two will be looks and cost. When I was looking into the Akra @SupremePower had the best price. For Soul, when I purchased, the guys there are great to talk to, pick up the phone, and can make a good deal on a set. Be prepared to possibly wait awhile.

I’ll chime in. Had a 2021 with old soul cat and needed spacer to not throw cel. My 2023 with new soul cats (thought it wasn’t HJS anymore) no cel plug and play. Combined with Akra pipes love the sound.

Soul Sport cats over the Akra to save on $$. + Soul customer service is top notch, had a client had a CEL come up with his Akra combo and Soul helped to resole it. Akra has great customer service too but won't back up the no CEL for theirs.

Speaking on strictly performance and drivability. Considering the freight/cost basis of a full Akra muffler and Cats.
Is there more value in a Akra center muffler and a simple stage 1 ECU Tune?
I see sport cats as mostly adding performance but at the cost of $3500-4K for 15hp.

As others have said, cats will get you power (even more power if you tune) and Akra will get you sound. I've heard cats + PSE + ME tune (where the valve are 100% open on Sport) sounds pretty amazing. Thats probably the way I would have gone but I jumped in the JCR group buy, so ended up with cats + JCR + tune. It's a slippery slope..... Lol
