From what I read, looks to be hit or miss in those with sport chrono. Can y’all tell me if it’s dependent on which 911 model you have.

My 2024 Carrera S Sport Chrono has this rattle from the beginning (I noticed it the next day I got it). at 650 miles my dealer replaced PADMs - it rattles the same. 3 weeks ago I asked them to look at the possibility of replacing PADM with standard mounts, they said they will consult with Porsche (no answer yet).

Sucks to have a rattle. Would someone be able to post a video/soundbyte of the rattle? And for those with the rattle, if you had to do it over again, would you still get the sport chrono? What do you actually loose by not opting for sport chrono? thx.

Does it stop when you switch to Sport mode?

It's hard to notice it on my sound recordings as it's drowned in the engine noise. Perhaps someone else has a recording on which it's more hearable. If I would have to do it again, I don't know what I would do. I replaced my mounts at no cost, the rattle is still there, but it's less significant (or I'm getting used to it). You have to be a little OCD to get bothered by it. But on a car worth this much, it bothers me that the car is not rattle free. I'm living with it.

It does not stop in Sport mode
Just got a call from the service manager, they will not retrofit to standard pads.

I’m sure it varies person to person. But is it annoying enough that if you did it all over again, would you opt for sport chrono?

Well, the people who hear their car rattling - would probably skip Sport Chrono. The others would keep it. Based on the number of cars delivered to people on this forum which likely have SC since its a common option, and the ones who post here, its surely a small minority of people who have this - otherwise this thread would have dozens of posters constantly complaining. I ordered SC on my car because I made the observation that most cars don't have this.

Apologies for the barrage of posts. I’m older and don’t see myself taking it to track or launching off the line. If I opt against sport chrono then I still get a sport mode. Just not the sport plus correct.

obviously no clock and no steering wheel dial. How do you switch btwn sport and normal in one without sport chrono.

thx

I will try to put a rubber pad between padm bracket and the body as it was suggested for diagnostics in porsche tech. bulletin to see if it helps(and for how long).
need to order two (V-band) screw-type clamps as they need to be replaced every time (~ $50 each).

Is the rattle something that is "easily" drowned out by music at a relatively normal level, and by any road and wind noise. I'm sure a lot of it also depends on how OCD you are.

Reading through this thread, it doesn't look like the noise has really improved much since the first 992 rolled off the line. But just curious, any later 2024's out there with noise or no noise.

Thx

Yup when configuring my car I was lucky to have a good friend who's heavily involved in Porsche service centers and he advised me on a lot of things with the build, and told me to skip SC. I'm glad I did.

Well, I am now getting on for 5 years in, No Sports Chrono, no rattles.

I am at 60,000 miles now, the car is still perfect. 0-60 still 3.6 seconds on dragy.

Having driven nearly all the 992s on offer, I am still not sure what S/C brings to the party anyway.

The driver mode setting the car is in changes with driver inputs anyway automatically, so whats the point of an extra button?
