Configurator Update 6/23/22
Just got an email from my SA telling me the "on 6/27/22 we will see a 2023 992.2 hit the configurator. You will be redoing the build again. lol."
EDIT: 6/27 not 6/23

Sounds mysteriously exciting. Looking forward to seeing what’s new.

Well that’s exciting!!
…by “another 992” - does he mean you won’t want your current allotment or you’ll be starting your config again because too much has changed?

Does your SA sound pretty convincing that MY2023 is going to be the introduction of 992.2? The overall consensus on this forum seems to be that we won't see 992.2 until MY 2024.

I wrote every word in my original post I received from him verbatim. I have no idea how to answer your question other than to say, no he did not.

Its not going to be the 992.2, just the 2023 MY of the current car. If it is the 992.2, the auto journalists taking/publishing advance photos and such, will have egg on their faces.

Def not 992.2. That’s next year.
my dealer already confirmed when he got 2023 allocations. Pricing is up same 992.1 model.
992 has only been out since 2000
As a matter of fact Cayenne which has been out since 2019 was supposed to get its mid cycle refresh for 2023 but Porsche didn’t do it just raised prices and kept same model.

Are you an SA? Regional Manager? Insider? Being facetious a bit but in light of your assertion, a 992.2 isn't coming in spite of a Porsche rep telling me directly otherwise? Got it.

model year changeover has never been a thing with Porsche in such a timeframe
2020-2023 992.1
2024 - 2026 992.2
standard Porsche model changeover

It would be a surprise, because it would be a year sooner than the prior .2 watercooled 911s.
If it is indeed coming early…
1) Porsche could be experiencing supply chain issues with existing dash and infotainment components. Going to the Taycan interior would simplify things.
2) Taking the 911 Hybrid sooner helps bring down their fleet CO2 numbers. The 992 GT3 exists, because of the Taycan. Bringing fleet numbers down further helps Porsche meet regulatory requirements and sustainability goals, permitting them to continue production of several NA niche models.
3) Porsche may be considering a little power bump for the 992 in advance of the arrival of the 718 EV — a car with an 800HP trim that will make all 992s feel slow. Hybrid helps that cause, but some additional horsepower through boost would likely be part of the equation.
4) Porsche could be doing a .2 early, because they’re planning on a .3 like they did with the Macan. Truth be told, the PCM update for the 2022s was a very substantial change early in the product cycle. Maybe they’re going a little more Tesla with incremental changes.
5) Going .2 allows them to justify a substantial price increase. This is probably closest to the mark.
