I just got a quote for my soon to be ordered Turbo. $500/month. No accidents. Multi-line policy with State Farm, etc. I was in shock. They also raised my Cayenne Turbo coverage by 15% based on market dynamics/inflation here in California.
Does anyone know if Porsche Auto covers California? Any thoughts on using them instead?

Porsche Auto Insurance is temporarily not writing new policies in CA... I've checked every day for a month to no avail. I was forced to go with State Farm at $375/month for a C2, however, I was also forced to accept a 15 day waiting period before the insurance kicks in. Geico, Progressive, and AAA all quoted insane premiums (Geico was close to $1500 a month). I'm married with no points and a small comp claim over 5 years ago. Hagerty and Toggle were closer to $500/month but Hagerty wanted $1000 down.

Are these extraordinary high rates a California thing? I live in the Midwest. When I got a quote for adding a 992 turbo to my policy, it was about $220 a month additional w Geico. My turbo is coming in a couple of months.

At least GEICO is consistent: I'm in FL, and GEICO quoted me 20,000 per year; PAI is only 3,000 per year. . . you probably don't want State Farm either, based on what a local (FL) body shop told me: State Farm is the worst in getting repairs paid for: there's a class action lawsuit against them in FL and GA for non-payment of labor to repair Porsches.
(Part of me almost wonders if this is a conspiracy to drive Porsche 911 prices down: make them uninsurable, or too expensive to insure, and therefore undriveable by most)

Will be looking for insurance soon as well. Building of my base 911 to start in May. When do you typically have access to a VIN so as to get a a more accurate insurance quote.

As mentioned above, if you drive less than 10,000 miles per year, you should look into Mile Auto Insurance, which is the actual insurer for Porsche Auto Insurance. . .

Porsche 2024 911 T $128.07
I do have home insurance coverage with them also,it seems to me the rates might be based on zip codes.

These rates folks are saying are just insane. Especially since most of us are adding the 911 and not using it as our only car.

The whole insurance market is insane now. I think I will go with Hagerty, in fact I'm even afraid to get a quote for the car from my regular insurance company - because I don't want to let them know I am trying to insure this car, they might balloon the rates on my daily drivers as "punishment" or decide to drop me entirely.

CA has all sorts of laws around insurance and how insurance companies can't (lots of grey area here so i'm generalizing) price based on risk. Because of this a ton of insurance companies are pulling out of the state all together. Its quite insane. I just had to renew and my broker went to 8 companies and only 2 would insure a Porsche in Los Angeles. For the porsche I was paying about 380/month before this renewal and it went up this year to about $515/month to insure. So for a 2024 Escalade, a 2023 Wrangler 392 and a 2024 Targa 4S I pay $931/month. Brutal.

Get a VIN for any actual car from a dealer website and give the insurance companies that VIN for pricing.
