On the Sustenpass road today
In the wintertime the roads leading up to most Alpine passes are closed ... but you can still enjoy them for a substantial portion until the point where the snow was not plowed ... and this was fun ...
Almost at the end of the break-in period, I just discovered that when you release the trottle from a substantial application you can clearly hear the "chirping" sound of the boost release ... quite entertaining and old fashion ... also the suspensions on the normal setting are perfect for a road surface broken and ondulated, where a stiffer suspension would detract from the fun. Starting to really bond with the car.

I think this nails why I love the Dakar so much. It's great. It's fun. It's a 911. But most of all it is stress and care free in the real world on a day to day basis.
Also, my wife stole the keys and put 75 miles on the Dakar in 2 days I've been out of town. It's the first Porsche she's ever taken interest in.

A bit bummed this morning, as I just talked to my dealer, and he's not getting any more allocations for Dakar. He had been optimistic since the car was announced that they would receive a few, and that I was top of the list. Like @cebe , I also have a 991.2 GT3 Touring that I daily with over 26k miles, and have a GT2 (though mine's 997.1 generation) so had been hoping the emulate the "trifecta" and the Dakar was going to enter the stable as part of the regular use rotation.
Posted a WTB allocation thread in Marketplace, as I was hoping to do a very specific spec, otherwise, I'll eventually capitulate and find the right car in the pre-owned market.
Have the it's cousin, the Sterrato, showing up in April, and while it's going to be a blast, unfortunately not something I can drive to my very corporate office as a daily.

Thank you for the suggestion, but the intake filter on the Dakar is specific and different from the GTS.
Regarding the exhaust, I do not think there is anything wrong with the OEM one: just the 3.0 turbo engine does not have meaningful mechanical noise if compared to the normally aspirated 4.0 of the GT cars ... and I miss that tune that in my opinion can not be substituted by more/louder exhaust.
Just my opinion.

A tale of two Dakars
Just had a quick trip to Italy and tested the limited offroad capabilities of the Dakar ...
For comparison purposes please look at what a real Dakar ready car looks like ...
Very lucky to own both ... but each one has its capabilities and the Dakar is no real offroad ... great on white roads, broken pavement or speed bumps ... but when I need to do real offroad it is not the proper car.
Porsche is marketing the Dakar with a strong connection to offroad but that is not the proper environment to enjoy this car, in my opinion.
