For my ‘24 992 T with Burmester, audio sounds better with Apple Music lossless + CarPlay than over USB C.

That quote is often attributed to the great Peter Walker, inventor of the Quad ESL electrostatic loudspeaker (I’m the proud owner of a pair of ESL 57s):

" There are only two requirements a speaker cable should satisfy. The first is that it should be long enough to reach between amplifier and speaker. Then having done that, the only other requirement is, ideally, the colour of the insulation should match that of the surface on which it is lays."

At audio shows he would often use coat hangers to make the point. For more info see
The Closest Approach The Closest Approach
, by Ken Kessler. Bottom line: the electrons don’t care.

There is an option to stream a ‘built in’ Apple Music in cars equipped with PCM6 and a Porsche Connect subscription (and an Apple Music subscription), independent of an iPhone connection. How would the fidelity of this option compare with that conferred streaming Apple Music from the iPhone via CarPlay, (Bluetooth or wired)? I sometimes listen to the ‘built in’ Apple Music but my old ears don’t perceive a difference.

I've had all 3 Porsche music systems. Debating the best sound source for the 992 is kind of pointless given the sound degrades much more from speed than from different source material. At a traffic light you may be able to tell a difference.
