Diminished Value

Diminished Value
Bad Day Yesterday. While driving through a parking lot at 5mph an idiot young girl on her cell phone backed out of her parking spot and into my right rear quarter panel. I have damage to the body work, fender well, wheel, tire and bumper cover. This is a brand new 2023 Cabriolet in GT Silver and I'm already thinking the repair and paint match is going to be a nightmare. Plus, I'm concerned about Diminished Value at some point down the road when it comes time to sell. All the damage is cosmetic but as we all know cosmetic damage to a Porsche is a problem. Anyone have thoughts about how to follow up on the Diminished Value issue and anyone have experience with repairs on a brand new car?

Sounds cosmetic only, I doubt it will diminish the future value, besides, you planning on selling it already?

Not planning to sell anytime soon - just looking down the road. I think I'm feeling the frustration of having an incredible new car that I waited months to get and having some stupid kid damage it before I could even put a scratch on it! Things will work out.

Unfortunately, you'll have a hit on carfax, and most everyone (specially dealers) will use that to lowball you when time comes to sell the car.
I would 100% seek a diminished value claim with the other party's insurance. There are attorneys out there that will do it for you($).
I had this happened to me with my very first 911, a forklift found its way into my rear bumper. Only saving grace was that the car was leased, back when it was a "good deal" in 2014.
Good luck!

For $500 to $1000 or so, maybe a bit more, you can find someone to do a diminished value negotiation with the insurance company on your behalf. There are various companies and attorneys that handle it and can get you proper restitution. If you go direct to the insurance company and demand diminished value, they will use their own adjustment process and person and give you their estimate, which depending on the damage, etc. can be significantly less.

I used this firm for a DV appraisal. The accident was in NY so it is not an easy state to get DV adjustments on non-investment vehicles.

These guys will give you a report based on average prices and charge you $80 for the report (which you can reclaim when you file w insurance)
then they will give you step by step how to get paid out.
I am doing it w my wife’s AMG C43 Cabriolet that got rear ended w $8,000 worth of damage.
DV estimated at $2,700

If I'm buying a car that needed $8k worth of damage I would want to pay at least $5k less than the listed price, not just $2700. Otherwise I'd just buy a car without that damage. Saving $2700 doesn't sound like much from the perspective of the buyer.
OP- I would consider having the opposite person pay out of pocket if that is potentially on the table. And not go through insurance for this purpose.

there are a lot of cars out there that have been damaged and not "reported".

OP - sorry to hear it happened so soon
Can you post a photo
Possible to pay out of pocket to avoid carfax?
where are you located and is there a Porsche specialist repair facility near you?
there may be no diminished value if you have the repair done properly, document it, and pay out of pocket

Have your dealership sales department write you a note stating if this car was to be traded in, this is how much it would be valued at. Gather some used prices data off the internet, hold it until they come back with their valuation and then decide the value of the damage.
You should be able to get at least $10,000 or more for this accident, I know I would and I have
Hope the other driver has reasonable coverage and do not settle on lower offer either
If there's a police report, then yes it would ping on the CF and yes, people would offer you less when its time to sell it
Good luck
