Default Pros/Cons to racetex interior on the GTS?

Never owned racetex on a porsche. Debating if should go with the leather/racetex package or full leather.

anyone have any opinions on one way vs the other? I am getting deviated stitch, do you get more/less stitch if you go one way or the other (racetex vs full leather)

Happy thanksgiving!

Racetex is part of the GTS interior concept, so definitely YES. But the nice thing is you can choose Racetex on the
  1. seats/dashboard/steering wheel/armrest/doors/headliner/gear shifter (if manual) or
  2. seats/dashboard/steering wheel/armrest/doors/gear shifter (if manual) or
  3. seats/dashboard/armrest/doors/headliner or
  4. dashboard/steering wheel/armrest/doors/headliner/gear shifter (if manual) or
  5. dashboard/steering wheel/doors/headliner/gear shifter (if manual) or
  6. dashboard/doors/headliner (if manual) or
  7. dashboard/steering wheel/doors/gear shifter (if manual)

Taking first option it will give you the opportunity to get seat ventilation.

I would avoid the material on heavily touched surfaces like steering wheels. shift levers and armrests. Whether or not to get racetex vs leather is a personal preference.

I love racetex. It feels so much better than leather. I personally don’t use any sort of lotions or have to worry about grease or anything either so for me it’s not going to get gunked up. Maintenance is fairly easy if you stay on top of it. Brush and some light cleaner a couple times a month keeps it looking good.

I was very happy with the race-tex in my GT4 although I generally prefer smooth leather on most Porsches, the exception would be GT cars and the GTS.

I agree with this statement… I like racetex but having a racetex steering wheel and shift ***** get dirty quickly and harder to clean than leather.

Racetex is a synthetic, manufactured material (plastic) vs leather being a natural substance if that matters to you. A lot of people will simultaneously argue for the leather dash while optioning the plastic seats…not sure how that came to be. Anyway, if you are going for a higher end look, leather is the way. Racetex is however more sporty.

I have full RaceTex. I was a little worried going in, but it’s been fine. My wife spilled coffee on it within the first 72 hours of having the car. It wiped right up, no issue. Steering wheel has been fine after almost 14k miles. I do brush the wheel regularly and use sonax every couple thousand miles.

I like it better than leather because, no matter how careful I am, leather always tends to get scratched.

After the leather interior on my 991.2S I went for racetex on the GTS. Very happy with it and it seems to breathe better. Also keeps me more planted in the seat. Both options have advantages, but happier than I thought I would be with it.

Went full leather. Alcantara reminds me of a Subaru Impreza interior. Can't do it on a 6 figure car.

I went with it on my GTS

Pros
Sporty (it is a GTS after all, not a full GT but acceptable in this level)
Feels good
Can get embroidered GTS on headrest
race tex headliner is great and worth $

Cons
I think the quality was better on 991
lose vented seats
worry about oils (no issue yet this year

I did not do the steering wheel in it, like I had on my 991.2 GTS.

I feel the same way, reminds me of the cheap velour interiors of the 80-90s. Can't get that thought out of my head. Leather has always represented luxury to me.

Nailed it. Leather is associated with luxury. Racetex/Alacantra with sport. One advantage with Racetex if not the main reason you see it on GT cars is grip; you remain more planted in the seat during agressive driving. As with color choice, it is senseless to argue one being better than the other rather a matter of taste and need.
