Default Shark Blue availability

If Shark Blue is going to be NLA for builds starting March 2024, that explains why my SA said my build code was rejected for T allocation with a estimated build date of March 7, 2024.

So I went with Carmine Red, though it’s not my first choice and it was accepted by the system. That was a couple of weeks ago.

Fast forward to today, all of a sudden my build date has been moved to February, according to the estimates on myporsche.com. Does this mean I could spec Shark Blue again?!?

I’m not exactly sure how 992T allocations and the whole Porsche ordering system works, but would it be reasonable for me to ask my SA to give my Shark Blue build code another go to see if the system will accept it this time?

Edit: I should have fully read your post prior to posting.😂 Yes, You should definitely inquire with your SA and ASAP.

BTW, Carmine is a great shade of red.

If Shark Blue is what you want, push for it.

When's your freeze date ? It's alot harder to make changes after you've passed the freeze point.

it's been the available on Carreras as a specialty non-PTS color since the 991.2, not sure how it qualifies as rare...? It does look great though.

This is why I passed on getting Carmine Red for my 992 and why I changed my Taycan Cross Tursimo from Carmine Red to Neptune Blue. It is no doubt a great looking red... but it is not rare at all. I saw a bunch of Macans, Taycans, Panamera, and other non-911 Porsches in Carmine Red at the two dealerships I visited and the ubiquity of that color on a bunch of the more plain Porsches turned me off. It's kinda like Chalk - another very nice color that is basically available on any Porsche.

This is the universe telling you that CR is the better choice over SB, thank the universe and move on.

freeze date is end of January, but it seems to keep moving around, so I'd say early January to be safe.

Very true and you're both probably right. Carmine is absolutely beautiful in the Taycans I've seen them on.

Maybe I subconsciously only want Shark Blue more after finding out I can't have it lol

That’s more than likely the truth pertaining to your subconscious.. I went back-and-forth repeatedly between SB, CR, and GR. Ultimately I went with SB. CR totally reminds me of BMW’s former Imola Red which I have owned and loved.

My top 3 colors are Gentian Blue, Chalk, and Carmine Red, and they change all the time. I went with Gentian Blue bit I would have been equally happy with either of the other 2, as well as sometimes, but only sometimes secretly wishing I had gotten one of the other 2 no matter which I had selected. Unlike the interior ambient lighting, it can't be changed on the fly via the PCM. When Porsche figures out how to do that, they can double the price of the car.

Ironically enough those were my final two colors. Very different vibe. Carmine is great. Rare (probably bc Guards is so great, historic and cheaper). Im 38 so I went with the more aggressive flavor of SB. Carmine S or Turbo S with a heritage interior would be fantastic.
