Paint Defect From the Factory
My 992 just arrived from Germany and my dealer just texted me to say that it has paint smudges under the clear coat.
what would you guys do? Is this something the dealer needs to fix before I pick up?

Just my 0.02, it appears that it needs a professional paint correction as the paint is also already swirled. A professional detailer will certainly be able to advise as to the removal of those splotches.

They all come with defects. That's why so many folks get paint correction on brand new cars. It looks like the dealer added some paint swirls for you.

How did that even leave QC? But then again, there was a Turbo S with two completely different front seats.

If it's under the clear coat, it has to be repainted. Your choices are:
- get it fixed under warranty (repaint)
- refuse delivery and get your dealer to get you a new allocation (you'll have to wait another X months)
- negotiate some kind of compensation with PCNA

My guess is if was just in need of a paint correction, the dealer would have preformed this prior to you picking it up.

It’s probably moisture trapped in the clear from being under the protective film. The dealer should give it a few days in warm temps or have a detailer put infrared lamps on it to speed the drying.

If they say, we will take care of it after delivery, don’t sign for it.

I agree that you should try baking the paint in that area first. Could solve the defect completely. Likely moisture under the clear coat that can be baked out. It seems like Porsche is putting on shipping wrap on cars too soon. My detailer noted this on several new 911 lately.

Have them repaint the fender, you will not know the difference
It wont hit carfax no harm no foul
No different than a port damaged car..they just repaint at port and are on their way..happens more than you think or want to know

This. With the caveat that if its still not to your liking afterwards you can get another allocation.
