Why is the background metal section blue-shouldn't it be the color of your car?

Sorry that is how mine works, I just went out and tried it again. I turn about six spins, then it stops, right where yours is stopped, and then I turn again and it clicks down with the same feeling as my gas cap and lines up straight. I got mine from Suncoast. So yes it sounds as if maybe yours may be defective.

When I checked my coolant, I too couldn't get the cap to seal right. For my stock coolant cap and I assume for your upgraded one, you have to REALLY twist super hard to get it to click. When it does click, it will be parallel to the oil cap. I had to force it so hard that I thought I was going to break something or break my fingers before it finally clicked into place.

If you get dried coolant on the thread it's a royal pain to twist or to remove. I sprayed a tiny bit of wd40 on tread and cleaned excess dried coolant and it worked like a charm with smoother action for screwing on and off.

Mine was on super tight as well. I think I had to use a mallet or something to knock it loose and putting it on took as much force to make it click. I tried 3x and literally thought I was going to break something before I got it to click back into place on the 3rd try
