I saw a few guys reporting 600whp & 530wtq, has that been proven reliable? Are rods & pistons forged? What is the weak link in these cars?
The weak link is almost always the driver.

911 owners tend to be less fixated on HP than other enthusiast owners I think because they understand that performance cars are about balance.

One thing I haven't seen (but I haven't looked much) is the ability of the aftermarket tunes is for the driver to be able to change
the upper boost limit on the fly (via a button/switch/whatever). Again maybe this exists and I don't know about it.

I have a '17 STI with a mild tune on it where the "Intelligent" setting of the SI-drive **** gives waste gate to spring pressure only.
"S" mode is ~14 PSI and "S#" is 17 PSI max boost respectively. That way I can have the wife set it to "I".

Since I asked for it (switch controlled variable boost) does that mean I get to test the first production code out

switchable maps would be superb. I'd love to be able to switch the **** to individual or something for an e85 map, and back when I run out that tank.

There was a comment on IG about switchable maps via a stalk that was hinted at coming to 992's.

I'd definitely be interested though I remember a comment by M Engineering (I may be mistaken though my memory isn't what it used to be) that the 992 ECU doesn't have enough storage space for 2 maps. Iirc the Subaru did?

I don't know about all Subarus but the VA WRX and STI (2015-2021) definitely did not have space for 2 maps.

For more than one map you had to have your Cobb accessport in the car with the map loaded.

I believe it was APR who said that in terms of using their EMCS on the 992 ECU.

Some companies offer aftermarket warranties but it ends up being a fight between factory warranty and the tuners warranty while the customer is stuck in the middle wondering who is reimbursing them for the costs.

I’m hearing a single turbo replacement is over $8k. Wouldn’t be surprised a new engine is 60k + for a complete unit.

Long block is like 16 grand

https://parts.byersporsche.com/p/910...2100927SX.html

Turbo is 3500....but you could probably get it cheaper considering flat6 sells both for 5600.

There are probably gaskets, seals, bolts, coolant, oil etc that also have to be replaced for a turbo R&R but 8 grand sounds like a bend me over price.
