Default Frunk open when using CTEK

Is your frunk slightly cracked open when charging in the garage, or does the lid actually close? If open, does a frunk light drain the battery?

I feed my ctek cable out the top of the hood near the hinge by the windshield. Close up the hood.

Lid closed, wires out the top by windshield. Not sure why you’d leave it open; not sure about the light.

Doesn't this mean the end of the battery connector is exposed to the elements?

I leave it cracked open when on the CTEK. The frunk light shuts off after a while.

After having to jump that dam fuse box...i leave the frunk cracked. whole point of a trick charger is to prevent drain anyway.

Car will still lock anyways and I keep it under cover as I have no space in my garage.

No - I have the permanently mounted clips on the battery with the 12 inch lead. And then I add one of CTEKs 8 ft extension onto that to the charger. The lead stays under the hood and the cover for the battery. When I unplug it - it’s all under the battery cover.

It comes with a tethered “cap” to protect the open end of the connection when not connected to an extension cable. Routing out the top of the frunk is a slick set up.

Like many others, frunk fully closed with the connector coming out near the windshield. I had to jump the car using the damn fuse box and it’s a pain in the ***. Thanks what I get for not driving the car for 6 months and not having the car on a tender. Eeps! Now she’s on a tender right along with the V4.

Frunk open - well, slightly closed. Don't love the Ctek connector showing up by the windshield and as you can see above, I don't love the cord hanging down the side of my car. So frunk - one click down, wire out front.

I leave the frunk slightly open in case the battery dies, and have the wires come out the front of the frunk. As others have stated, it is very difficult to open the hood if closed in that situation, see other posts on this matter. Essentially if the battery dies with the frunk closed, you have to use the key blade to open the door, open the fuse box inside, and connect a charge to the frunk fuse to power it on to open the frunk. Add to that that the charging of the battery can be very finicky (as I have had to reset mine many times due to the Porsche charger shutting off by itself, and it is connected directly to the battery) better to leave frunk open.

As an FYI Antigravity Batteries makes a simple Wire Harness (which we call the "Clampless Harness") that allows you to use a mini Lithium Jump Start to Power your system to open the frunk OR Jump Start your Car when the battery dead. Its much simpler than going into the Fuse Box and takes literally seconds. Also takes about 2 minutes to install.

When needed you just plug-in the jump starter to the wire harness that you route to the edge of the windshield, then pop the frunk via your Porsche keyfob or switch at the rocker panel area, or if you just want to jump start the car you just put in your key and start your car. Our Wire Harness also comes with a Protective cover you cover the end from the elements. The benefit of this over going to the Fuse area is that you are actually powering the entire system on the Car so you get the full current to the Switch so it pops the frunk easily.

WE make them for our MICRO-START Jump Starters but they also fit several other brands of Jump Starters also that have the standard type plugs. It does not fit the Jump Starters with proprietary plugs like NOCO and some others.

As with others, I leave the frunk slightly open when attaching the CTEK battery tender. The frunk light shuts off after a few minutes.
