GTS Locks On 29th, Trying To Decide on Aerokit

I was a no aerokit when I got mine, and it is the one option I wish I had gone for and am still considering ordering the OEM part and adding it.
Here is one thing to think about. I was driving down the highway and saw something sporty off in the distance, but it kind of looked weird and not quite right. As I came up on it, was it an eclipse or something. Got closer, nope a 992, with the rear active spoiler up. The rear active spoiler deployed with the accordion black plastic underneath, does not really look very appealing from behind. And I am usually driving fast enough that it is up.

Get the wing. It is a great option because without it your car will look like soooo many other 911 carreras out there. I bet there are more people that regret not getting it than those that have it and wish they didnt add it. Think about that.

It's funny but I do kind of wish it would just lock so the choice goes away! I have been looking at 911's in person and online since October when I found out that I had an allocation to figure out what I wanted on this build. This will be my third 911 (and third silver one) and first with a wing. Would love to get my hands on a GT3 but know that unless I pay the crazy premium for used that will likely never happen (can't even get on a list) so adding a wing on the GTS maybe as close as I get. I do admit I have a bit of the fast and furious streak in me from a taste perspective (if you are into cars you have to love those movies, though the last few have gone overboard) and usually start thinking about what I could change on cars once I buy them. So, from that perspective the wing is not a bad choice for me. Agree with everyone that it is personal but hey getting other's opinions is what forums are all about! Keep the thoughts and perspectives coming, I appreciate them! Thanks to everyone who has already shared their perspective!

Some ppl hate it but MOST love it, in the real world. Retrofitted the aerokit on mine and absolutely never get tired of staring back at the car. Looks better than the stock active spoiler when it lifts up. Plus the aerokit allows better airflow/cooling/less heatsoak for the intercooler.

Ordering my 2nd 992, this time a GTS. The one option I am still going back and forth on is the Aerokit. The attached picture is how I have the exterior spec'd as of now and it locks on February 29th. My one concern is that at some point I might get tired of the wing. The one option that I was thinking may be possible would be to shift to a ducktail at that point? Naturally my wife voted against the wing but my 17 year old son is firmly in the camp of getting the wing. This will be primarily a weekend/fun car so pulling into to the office parking lot and wanting to be discrete is not a concern. I do like the fact the wing is functional and even has a scoop to pull fresh air into the intercoolers. Let me know your thoughts, especially on the idea that moving to a ducktail could be the answer if I get tired of the wing.
Go with your gut. You want the thing - get it.
Porsche doesn't make a ducktail for the Carrera. You'd have to go aftermarket and go with a design not vetted by Porsche engineers.

I say no aero kit, just not my thing, but agree with rk-d - it sounds like you want it so get it and don't look back.

If your kid likes it....do it.
Great validating/bonding moment with your son.
Extra bonus...looks perfect on a GTS.

Watch the video at the end of this that shows the car in motion and you will see how great the wing looks.

Bahahahah, glad to see our poseur GT3 wings are as polarizing as ever @shrimp money. Bunch of haters up in here 🫣
OP: Get it if you like it, and especially because your kid likes it. Great bonding opportunity as others have mentioned. The only angle on the car that I think isn't improved by the Aerokit wing is the direct-rear view. And that's only with the retractable wing down; I'll take the Aerokit over extended flappy wing any day of the week.

Race Car
Sometimes I feel like the only pushback on it is some people feel it looks too much like the 991 GT3 wing. And no one wants to be a poseur I guess.
But it's a factory option from Porsche, and looks great IMO. If someone were putting a 992 GT3 wing on their Carrera, I'd probably make the same face as some of you.

You will find a pretty even split of people who hate it and those who love it. If your main concern is that you might get tired of it, the opinions of those who got it and actually got tired of it might be the only ones who might actually matter to you but at the end of the day, it's only YOUR opinion that actually matters. Very few who got it and ended up regretting it but I do hear and see of many who regretted not getting it and even some who paid the much more extra money to add it. And I agree with others that it's a fun thing to bond with your son over. It's a great way to appreciate that he's actually interested in cool cars and not just a digital screen. So if you think you want it now, just get it. And it sounds very much like you want it.
As for this whole "GT3 poseur" argument, Porsche actually offered the Aerokit spoiler option before GT cars so whatever.
What does your wife drive?

Put me down in the “go for it!” column. If the aerokit had been available when I specced my car I would have ordered it. The 992 version of the aerokit is especially well done in my opinion.
I used to be in the “wings are for GT cars only camp”. However, having spent a few years now tracking my 911s, I’ve noticed that these days you’re more likely to see non-GT cars at the track then GT cars (GT4s are the one exception). So, since it seems like it’s the Carreras at the track and the GT cars have migrated to Cars and Coffee duty, I no longer think the wings look out of place on a normal 911.
