I just checked out that list... lawd its every car i have ever owned. Thats crazy. I can't imagine all luxury drivers can't get insurance. Did they flat out say they won't insure or just setting you up for a high rate?

It seems they lobby well. They can refuse at their own volition most cars. Even the cayman DT4 [sic]
Not this particular group, but lots of people go uninsured or under insured, radiating costs to everyone when there's an occurrence. Insurers may not have started this but they're certainly not improving by being concerned with shareholders. Roll the boulder up Sisyphus, but be happy.

If you live in Manhattan, State Farm and GEICO are your only options for anything approaching a reasonable rate, based on my experience. Everything else is 3-5x price, if they’ll even offer insurance.

Former P&C agent, manager, director...
That list is a riot. Years ago as a new direct writing agent our company had a list of vehicles the underwriters were terrified of, for example anything with the scary Quad4. The best part was the list was the cheap vehicles preferred by the hooligans of the day that had the worst claims like the Berlinetta.
OP - what is your demographic - age, married, driving record? I can't imagine if my 56 yr old married clean record self called to add a MB E350 or a Porsche 911 to my policy they'd have an issue but maybe I'm out of touch. FWIW - USAA had no problems.

Note that progressive only covers up to 150k on personal vehicles.

Trying to think of any other list that could include a 911, Buick and a Subaru Brat......

A lot of insurance companies will insure the car if you have a current policy with them. The issue is with starting a complete new policy seems like most companies have an issue with Porsches. I currently have State Farm and i was trying to get quotes from new companies, Progressive flat out was a no we can't start a new policy with any Porsche vehicles.

I went with Hagerty. The insure it at a designated value. Depending on the market, that value can be above MSRP. Traditional insurers won't give you that sort of coverage. They will treat it like a fast depreciating asset.

Every single BMW is on that list - it's a joke.
Does anyone use Grundy for their 911? I have a classic BMW on Hagerty, and its not cheap anymore, I could tether a 911 to that policy I imagine - but I am hearing good things about Grundy for a limited use sports car.
