Default AliExpress? Recommend or not?

Any experiences good or bad with AliExpress? Considering a grille badge from them. Please post here.

I’ve bought various small items from them over the years and they’ve always been pretty good in terms of quality, although as I recall some of the delivery times were a bit long since most (if not all) of their stuff comes from warehouses in China. Overall I have found them to be decent value

I buy from them all the time, no problems. Use PayPal to checkout. Which grille badge are they selling?

Who's 'them' ? AliExpress is a platform, not a store.

There's obviously tons of counterfeit stuff and non-licensed use of brands. I mostly buy very cheap stuff there, special cables eg. very long or very short ones which are hard to find otherwise or ridiculously expensive, adapters, also all sorts of small household items, little stuff for the car.
For example, I couldn't find a USB-C hub with a 3 foot cable anywhere. Got one from AliExpress, works fine so far. Just got some charging cables for my Garmin watch, $1.50, work as advertised. Or some netting with velcro to stick things like a first aid kit to the walls of the 992 frunk.

I noticed that shops/sellers on the platform started to use numbers instead of names which makes them even more replaceable as many sell the same stuff anyway. Quite often you can find an item sold by a number of sellers for very different prices and s&h fees. And sometimes you get what you pay for, I had things break on first use.

When shopping for Porsche items, a high amount of discretion is recommended as stuff is most likely counterfeit and/or low quality (don't have experience but for example some of the CF mirror caps look already bad on the images provided, the weave not mirrored on both sides or misaligned) which leads us to another issue with AE as some sellers simply steal images from the i-net which look like their product but are not exact matches.

I once stumbled across the design coolant and engine oil cap for the 992, priced at a range for which you'd also find them at Suncoast or teile.com and have been wondering ever since if those are the real thing or also counterfeit (well they should be cheaper if counterfeit, shouldn't they). Have no plans to get them from AE.

Agreed. If they're at the same price point as Suncoast or teile why bother taking the chance of buying it from AE where the risk of it being counterfeit is too high, especially for something that needs to properly work ie coolant cap.

It's also crazy to me these sellers from china are asking so much for counterfeit stuff and csrbon parts. I guess people are buying.

I got one of their S/T badges and the quality was only OK, I don't think i'll run it on the car but it will end up as decoration in my garage.

Cheap crap made in China, pay a little more and support Western business instead, but then again, Porsche probably has them made cheaply in China anyway.

'cheap crap made in china'.....perhaps 'made as requested' is more appropriate.

Ordered from them and delivery was quick. Tracking is a bit of a pain as it was Chinese tracking. Good communications via email. Returns are a breeze but be careful on your order. A lot of knockoffs.

"My advice is not to install it on your grille just yet. The screws you bought are M5 grade, which might grind against your grille."
