No more ADM‘s/ Prices lowering

The thing with these ADM's is, they are only there because we keep paying them. And the average income of porsche owners now is considerably higher than it was 10 years ago. The average taycan owner makes 740K, macan owner 400K.
A carerra S averages out to 180K after options, so by end of next year an S is a 200K car. GT3's still regularly get 50K markups.
All this is to say, these things will even out. Just stop paying ADM. Buy anything else. A Miata for goodness sake.
And yes the 992.2 is going to shoot up another 15-20% in starting price. Everything I've heard (not just dealer talk) is they are doing 15-20% this year. And another 10% in late Q1 2025.

What will you do then?

We need to make economics mandatory in high school again. People pay additional because the underlying product is worth it to them. Particularly if it’s more than one or two people. What we’re asking people to do by not paying an ADM is to have them feel the underlying product is worth less than what they really feel it’s worth. Not happening.

Average is a pretty meaningless stat too. Jeff Bezos and Bill gates decide to get matching Taycans and boom, average income just jumped 200k.

edit: I found the 2020 PowerPoint slide from Porsche on the Macan forum that claims this. If Porsche claims it, it must be true LOL. The model ranges from only $70K-$130K well optioned. That figure is ridiculous.

I just want to let all of my fellow 911 brothers and sisters know that it’s me that’s dragging down the median income of 911 owners. For that, I apologize for bringing shame to the family.

agree that ADM is market dependent , but this is becoming less of a factor now as compared to like 10-15 years ago as more and more people are realizing that they can go out of their local market to get a better deal, so this will push dealers in big markets to be more realistic in their pricing strategy
but again I am debating the idea that ADM will always be there

Not really feasible when the heart wants what it wants. Same goes for any other luxury purchase people are going for these, i.e. the Rolex, AP, and Patek markets, etc.

I feel really poor now after reading these median income levels. I think I may apply for SNAP now.

Plenty of people are buying Porsches making low 6 figures. And there is no way the 'average' owner of a macan is 400k when someone making 80k could finance/lease one and would to look rich like a significant portion of base mercedes and bmw owners do.
Average is a pretty meaningless stat too. Jeff Bezos and Bill gates decide to get matching Taycans and boom, average income just jumped 200k.

"Average income" of a particular car model is misleading, while the "median income" of the same car model is less misleading. For a typical base Macan buyer, I bet the median household income is less than $250K. Possibly a lot less than $250K for the median (50th percentile) buyer on base Macans.

I think those numbers are bogus. I could go buy a new Taycan Turbo S today without much of a dent if I wanted and we're making less than the avg. Macan owner apparently. Part of the issue is that while inflation has soared, most white collar jobs have not raised salaries much. Unless you've job hopped, most companies are playing it tough on raises. Those at the bottom and those at the top have done well, but the rest have been hanging with low increases. Inflation has been killer...
