Soul valved or akrapovic exhaust?
Has anyone heard them both in person and can comment which one they liked more?
Soul’s exhaust dyno’d with more power according to flat6, but I’m guessing the gains aren’t as noticeable for street driving. Inversely, the akra weighs less. What are people’s experience been?

I have the Akra. I’ve had the Soul on a 981, but that doesn’t help I know. When the valves are open, I expect them to sound nearly the same. They are both just metal tubes running directly from the link pipes, same diameter, the only difference is the material and perhaps slight differences in total pipe length. There just isn’t much they can do to manipulate the sound given that straight pipes with stock cats is about right for aftermarket exhaust volume.. Does titanium resonate a bit different than stainless, I suppose it might elevate the pitch more upward but the difference seems minor to my ears. I suspect the bigger difference in these two is when the valves are closed. In the Akra, the close position routes via smaller diameter tubes, whereas the soul has a legit muffler there. My guess is that soul closed is going to be more like stock closed, whereas Akra closed is still a bit louder than stock closed.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still a significant difference between open/closed on the Akra, especially at hwy cruising speeds, but it is not as pronounced as the difference of stock PSE open and closed.
In all honestly, just a muffler change doesn’t do a ton for these cars because the stock cats absorb so much sound. It’s going to boost the volume by 20% ish, but it’s not going to transform the sound into a 981 GT4 or a GT3 or a Ferrari v8..So while I did it, I admit It’s was a pretty irresponsible use of 5K+. So given that, Akra won out for me because it saves a chunk of weight at the very back of the car, and the upgraded Ti tips look better than I thought they would (I wanted to change my tip color anyway). I’m 99% sure I’d also be happy with Soul. The question to consider is do you care more about the weight loss, and the Ti tips (get Akra) do you care more about a very “stock like” exhaust OFF function, are fine using stock tips and weight isn’t a big deal (get Soul). One more point is that Akra seems to be in stock with several dealers, whereas Soul is currently 4-6 weeks.
In both cases, cold start is significantly louder. If this bugs you, consider a tune which removes it. You can also tweak your valve operation with a tune which can help get it exactly how you want it. For example, I have mine 100% open even at low RPMS, but I believe you can change this logic pretty much how you want, e.g. 50% at 2K, 75% 3K and 100% 4K+ This can make a huge difference in the sound profile just running around town in the car at lower RPMs.

They all sounds great. I was between the same setups but ultimately got the JCR valved and could not be happier. I have it set to 100% valves open when in sport so there is a pronounced difference with valves open and valves closed.

I'm tempted to go Akra on my GTS. I did the cargraphic valve controller and definitely notice the difference. Now that I've adjusted, seems the brain is asking for more exhaust. When will it stop ???
Side note: wish it was a factory option to have an "upgraded" sport exhaust...

I did install the Akra three months into ownership of my 2022 C2S Cabriolet. Still love the raspier sound two years later. The cold start is loud… but I enjoy that too…

Did you find that a valve controller was necessary with the Akra?

If you can, get titanium ie Akra or JCR. Yes there’s a discernible difference, in the higher pitch wail compared to stainless. I’ve heard Soul valved with cats as well and was not as impressed overall. Titanium then with valves open is next level.

I would go Akra, simply for resale value. It’s a system many know, and trust.

We offer both, Akrapovic finish and quality is better, in my opinion. Of course, it comes at a higher price, if its over your budget, SOUL is an excellent second option

I have had both on my current 992, both sound amazing. I went to akra from soul because i wanted to shave off what felt 25+lbs of weight. The soul was more traditional sounding porsche exhaust, deeper. Akra was higher pitched, little more exoctic but thats just opinion.
Also for comparison they both were pared with Soul catless downpipes. Cold start is loud, louder than my 720 with no cats...

We have the perfect solution for you. We sell the Akrapovic slip on with the Soul sport cats for the 992 all day long. They compliment each other perfectly in power and sound. No issues either.
We have the Akrapovic units in stock and on sale. The Soul we can get made for you quickly, or just enjoy the Akrapovic for now and add the Soul later.
Feel free to text us!
