Default Crack in 992 Carrera T windshield, where to replace?

I got a pretty large crack in my windshield for my 992 Carrera T. I contacted two dealers and got quoted $4900 at one and $5600 at the other. The quotes included $2800 for the windshield plus alignment and calibration. I don’t have surround view cameras or lane keep assist on my car, is the alignment and calibration required? Has anyone replaced their windshield from general windshield replacement companies like safelite?

Tried doing some search but could not find my answer on the rennlist threads out there.

Did something hit your windshield or did it crack spontaneously? There is a recall for the front and rear glass to be checked, mine goes in next week. I've had 2 driver's side windows spontaneously crack while sitting still (not even in the car at the time) which Porsche replaced under warranty. Check with your service manager, it might be free.

You still most likely have frontal collision mitigation behind that little sensor camera in your windshield.
So yeah... probably needs calibration.

Standard. No choice for different glass in the 992 T

The recall isn't applicable I'd wager for a windshield cracked by a rock.

Dealers don't do these jobs - they farm them out. Start with Safelite and ask them to use OEM glass, see what price they give you.

No impact damage? Just a crack? The dealer will/should replace it at no charge to you. It's a known issue and one that I myself experienced.

I standard windscreen should be around $1,800 - PN 992-845-011-AM . . see:

Your dealer might match online pricing if you ask, but i'd try and purchase the windscreen separately, and then find someone qualified to install. Or at least now you know the "real" price of the glass, you can use to negotiate a better deal for a bundled service.

Some dealerships do. Mine contracts out, but not all do that.

I recently had mine replaced and the calibration/alignment is required because of the electronics in the rear view mirror panel.
