As I was reading I thought... "I bet this guy bought a T".
The PTS is rare and amazing.
Big congrats!

A huge congratulations. Love your story and RSA reference - one of my best friends owns this RS America. Since he wouldn't sell it to me, I also went with a 992 Carrera T and absolutely love it.

Loved your story! Thanks for sharing.
One thing I personally lament is, although I suspect I am younger than you, I opted not to order a manual on my (to be delivered) 992, because my knees are starting to give.
Congratulations to you, and may you continue to be able to use the clutch for as long as you want!
P.S. You can always powder coat the wheels to make the car unique to yourself. (If you do, share the pics!)

Thankyou all very much for reading through all I wrote and yet still having the energy to respond!
It really is so good to see how Porsche manages to maintain such long term relationships with its owner base, and to have seen so many go through various successive generations of the brand. I must say that as I have gotten older I have realised that as much as I love my older cars, they have increasingly become special occasion drivers if for no other reason that I need good aircon in summer nowadays (didn't seem to bother me so much in my youth), and the joys of a touch screen and android or apple play truly have become a need for me in my daily drives stuck in traffic.
Porsche really has a solution for every driver in their model line up and that's what made me finally bite the bullet and pick up a modern 911 after all these years. I have been fortunate enough to still keep the two older 911s in my garage and will continue to use them for weekends but I really look forward to once again breathing the brand in my daily weekday commutes as the older cars get some much deserved TLC and rest time.
As for the colour, I must say it really is quite close to aventurine green (the new version of aventurine green- my old 993 was also aventurine green but for some reason is significantly different to the new colour). I fell in love with the colour because I had spotted a GT3 Touring on one of my Web searches with malachite green and gold rims that just won me over.... and so true I may just do a powder coat of the rims as I can't get over how much I love this combination:
As for the older generation aventurine green, this is the old girl that I have had for close to 30 years now and will share the garage with the 911 T. She's a bit of a crazy one as her interior is cedar green.
Thanks again to all of you for the very kind comments. Just shows that the Porsche community is still alive and strong all these years later! Look forward to sharing my 992 journey with you all. As excited as can be!

Congratulations. It’s interesting that, even “down under”, the clutch is under the left foot!

I could get used to sitting on the right side of the car, and I could get used to driving on the left side of the road, bit I could never get used to shifting with my left hand. I would have to get PDK. What is the shift pattern? Is it left and forward for first, or right and forward for first?

Fantastic car and the back story! Congratulations 🎊
It seems hard to grasp the concept of shifting with the left hand, but you get used to it very quickly. The shift patter remains the same regardless being left or right hand drive.
The first 5 minutes are hard. I went from a F87 M2 stick in the UK (right hand drive) to my current 718 GT4 in US after a nearly 2 year break of driving shift and I was comfortable rowing gears in less than half a mile, past the first set of lights and a small roundabout.
You screw up if you over think it.

Similar situation...After driving Porsche cars since late 60's and having good fortune to enjoy many varieties over the last 50 years I just treated myself to new S coupe..manual and built to my specs ....

68 912
82 SC Coupe...my first new Porsche
85 M491 coupe favorite 911 built to my specs traded on
96C4S coupe.....my specs ...driven for 8 years...was my last new 911 until current 2024
65 356 C Coupe
65 356 SR coupe....owned for 20 years
72S/3.2 Hot Rod...just sold after 18 years of enjoyment....
97 993 Twin Turbo....driven for 12 years
09 C4S 4 years traded on Panamera ST
84 930 Factory Special Wishes SlantNose...still own
2018 Panamera Sports Turismo....fantastic hwy cruiser
and now 2024 Carrera S.....probably last 911
I've enjoyed all of them...Miss the M491,the C4S the 993 TT , the 72S RS Replica and the 356SC Sunroof the most...Sold the 72 and the 97 TT to good friend who live 2 blocks away...so still have visitation rights
So very lucky to have enjoyed these cars over the years.

So very lucky to have enjoyed these cars over the years.
My line up is positively yawn worthy comparatively but still loved every moment of it. In chronology of ownership:
1984 3.2 Carrera coupe, traded on...
1990 964 C4 coupe, traded on...
1994 993 Carrera 6 speed coupe, sold after 5 years
1996 993 C4S (still own it today almost 30 years later)
2001 996TT tiptronic (only auto I ever owned) traded on...
2008 997 GT3 RS, sold after 5 years and over 70 track days
1995 968 CS sold after 5 years.... loved that car!
1995 964 factory Turbo Look cab manual... such a special weekend driver that was regardless of what people say about cabs
Then I went back into a 993 love phase and this meant in addition to the 4S, I added a...
1995 993 Carrera manual that I made into a bit of a hot rod, sold after 5 years
1997 993 Carrera S manual, sold after 4 years and realising it was no better than the 4S in spite of it being 2wd,
1989 964 C4 bought in totally original form and used bog stock as I want to rememberemember original 964 feels like what with all the hot rod and back dated examples how flying around.
and now the final instalment being the 992 911T that I hope to drive the wheels off till the end.

Thanks so much my friend. Based off the latest aventurine green, I believe there is more green and less grey in this PTS compared to Aventurine Green.
