Can these by installed DIY with just basic jack stands?
Anyone have a guide / tools list to install the x-pipe to a 1998 993?
if too complicated to DIY, how much should I roughly pay a mechanic to install it?

I had a lift at my house, and still it was an epic fail. Apparently 25 year old exhaust systems can be stubborn to remove. It was well worth a few hours of labor at the local Indy shop for a proper install. I just wish they remembered to install the new Fister II’s that I left for them in the frunk. The Fister III’s in combination with the new Sportcats had car alarms going off two blocks away. Doh.

if you have some decent (certainly not expert IMHO) mechanical skills, it should be straight forward. I’ve got a lift, but I pulled my exhaust off on stands, as my ‘84 was on the lift at the time.

Down in south florida. Would like to get "more close" to doing work on my own car which is why dedicating a Sunday would be a fun project for me but also quite new to doing work on car (i.e. I don't even know what oil you're talking about)

Honestly, bolting on an x-pipe just takes hand tools and jack stands. It is a VERY easy thing to do in your own garage. I'd say it's a 1 on the DIY scale. Only complications are rusted bolts (penetrating oil) and the O2 sensors. Should be a quite simple task that anyone could do.
If you were local to me, I'd say bring it over and we could hammer it out in short order but I'm in Denver...

This is the perfect project for you. Get chummy with the underside of your car, and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself, while building your confidence. You’ll be glad you did.

For anyone who hasn't seen this in the past, Joe gives an interesting demonstration of X-Pipe flow vs a straightpipe as you see on the factory crossover design.

anyone know how the stock motor sound + x-pipe sport cat sounds vs. x-pipe with fister 2s? I'm looking for a pair of fisters to eventually upgrade but think i will first install the x-pipe with the stock and curious if there will be significant change in sound without the fister pairing

I have stock cans, and the Fabspeed sportcat. Will record it tonight and post it.
