Alternator Fan Hub Bearing

Alternator Fan Hub Bearing
Hi All,
I know some of you guys follow the 911UK forum but just wanted to let you know that a few of us just purchased Alternator Fan Hub Bearings from a company in the UK at a very good price. If you don't want to replace the whole unit, which is around £120.00 plus VAT plus shipping this is the way to go.

Just thought I'd share this with you.
No affiliation to the company.

I have owned a 930 era 911 and now a 993. The earlier car had well over 100k miles on it when I sold it and my 993 just passed 100K miles. I have never had to replace an alternator or a fan bearing. I have also replaced belts on both vehicles. I was wondering if overtightening belts could be a primary root cause for eventual bearing failure. Early on I didn't have a tensioning gauge and so I just left the shims in from the previous belt install. later on, I used a tensioning gauge and found my method was keeping the belts within tensioning specification.

Not to highjack this thread but I’ve had to recently replace my alternator and hub bearing. The bearing was making a pretty loud tapping noise once warmed up. The first bearing didn’t last a week before it made the same racket. My indie just replaced it again under their warranty and used a different brand / supplier. First supplier admitted they had recent problems. This second bearing makes a loud racket the very next day after a couple of hours drive to Portland. So I will be calling my indie again. While in Portland I stopped at Sunset (now Porsche of Beaverton). They had an OEM bearing so I’m hoping that will not fail. Posting so that anyone else putting in a hub bearing is pretty selective. Obviously there are a bunch of defective ones on the market.
