Rear belts
Anyone know the differences between coupe and cab rear seat belts? Are they interchangeable? I assume not since the have different PNs but the coupe rear belts are double the price! My belts constantly get stuck where they won’t pull out. I’ve tried the pull method, etc and it doesn’t work. I just have to sit there and play around with it until it works. No “method” as described in other posted seems to work. All hit or miss. So I’m at the point where I think I should just replace them. Why are the coupes double???
anyone have a good set lying around?

Yes, they are different and there are some variations between years as well. Do you have a coupe? What year? I have a spare set which was for an early model 993. It does not fit my 96.

Also, how easy is it to remove the rear belts to send in for repair? Does anything have to be don't from under the car or does everything unbolt from inside? A DIY would be great if anyone has one.

Before you replace them, examine the belt reel locking mechanism. You might find the reason why they stick to be very simple. Sometimes the belt is just not fully retracting because of friction or an obstruction. Sometimes the belt is twisted on the way to the reel. The system is very robust so I doubt you need to replace anything.

It took me about 15 minutes to remove mine. I don't know of a step by step DIY. IIRC, it was a simple matter of removing the trim piece that covers the area behind the seat-backs and under the rear window. The real mechanism is held in place by a single bolt.

even cleaning the belt you would be surprised how much dirt can add up on a black belt over the years. pull it all out and wash it in a bucket with soap and let it dry. can make it roll more better
