Default 993 in Hibernation, a last "look"...

Hey Rennlisters,

It is once again time for the annual winter lay-up here in our northern climate. I have seen comment such as "too bad you have to...", but I look at this with fresh eyes. I cover it up all winterized, and it won't appear again until April!

Then, a whole new experience begins, almost like getting a "new" Porsche, out of sight for 5 months, you reveal the beauty slowly, gently pulling the car cover back and showing it's gorgeous lines, a bit like undressing a woman. The voluptuous curves are exciting to the eye, and finally bare naked, you will be caressing her. She, the 993 is bathed in natural light, it is something to look forward too... and then the "first drive", slowly nursing the mechanics of clutch and throttle, like lovemaking before the thrill of climax, full throttle in second then third...

Looking forward to the moment, next spring, as so many of us do in "The Cold North".

Always a day of mixed emotions. On one hand, it's sad to have to tuck it away for a couple months, but on the other hand you know you won't be wrestling with trying to keep it pristine with all the salt and crude on the roads for the next few months.

It's always exciting to pull the car out in Spring!

I see you have neatly put away your front plate.
I guess not to rip the cove.

the sexual innuendos are beyond weird, but I get your point.

S98CS,

Here in Alberta, Canada there is no requirement for a front plate!

Cheers,

Hey Bert,

I'm putting mine away this sunday. Like you mentioned, its a sad day but makes looking forward to springtime that much more special.

Rin, I'm assuming you changed your mind on selling your car? I'm glad you did as its a beautiful car!

See you both next spring!!!

BTW Bert, if you spot a bright blue S4 Avant around, make sure you wave!!!

Derek

Mine is already sleeping Cant bear to put a cover on her though! After the last detail she looks absolutely stunning!
This is my first year that I will actually drive a Porsche year round, the 928 is all dressed up for winter. Just hoping for no snow ( at least not much) and ANY salt!

I completely understand what you mean. Its very true that if you drive a brilliant machine like a 993 all throughout the year, you get used to it and will end up taking it for granted. However, I don't think I have your will power. No way can I resist a drive on a crisp, sunny winters day. Its a drug, and yes i'm an addict.
