Default Drive Cycle... did you know

As we all know the last 2 to reset on the drive cycle are a pain ... driving 55mph 2.5k rpm for 15 miles... Something complicated like that.

Anyway.... I just ran across this for Texas and I'm sure other states have similar rules. Apparently, I didn't need to finish the drive cycle.

I'm not so sure about that ... NY has the same policy. It's an EPA guideline.

That's pretty much the rule everywhere except CA (which requires 4 monitors for 1996-2000 cars).

Texas is somewhat lax when it comes to auto emission readiness states.
A couple years ago I had two readiness codes not set (from battery disconnect) - yet still passed emissions.
Last year, all were set, so still no problem.

I am located in Texas and are aware of the rule. However, when I disconnect the battery on both of my OBD2 cars, I get 3 not ready flags which would still make you fail. I have two 993 and know the drive cycle from memory. I do not even need a timer because I have physical orientation marks.

Well there's one thing that's better in Ontario. Emissions tests have been eliminated so the re-set drive cycle is just driving.
