Nice to see your back at it Rei, continue hoarding nice parts and never tiered of new projects

Hats off on the carpet job.
How was it to drive on those meaty 17'' inches and on the cupcar height compared to the other 993 you have? I liked the setup with meaty tiers for the 17s on this build, and with the right tire, Id think it probably outperform a 18" setup on the same car?
Did the car come with any dynoplots from the engine build back in the day? It would be interesting to know as Im into comparing 3.8 builds these days (where to draw the line etc).

cheers

Coming along nicely. Not sure that adhesive removal is a job I'd want to undertake and that's coming from someone who's spent many hours cleaning the underside of the car. Can't wait to see how this all turns out.

I gave up posting here several years ago, but popping in to say it's so glad to see this car brought back. Dan would be pleased. I remember the first event he showed up (autocross), and how he let really any of us take it out. 25 years ago, wow. Then, well.....the pursuit of "speed" and being talked into a lot of unnecessary mods. I was easily faster in my stock class RS America Club Racer, when I went back to wheel-to-wheel a few years later, and we'd be out together on test days.

Hi Ken,

Yes! This is Dan's old car. Your stories are similar to what the previous owner told me as they were close friends. You are right, the shops who worked on it all remember the "carte blanche" budget they had to upgrade it!

When I was cleaning up the bonnet area under the magenetic track numbers found these sharpie signatures of other drivers who must have been friends too. Sure lots of good memories for people who drove it!

I have a question for @samurai_k regarding the Euro spec 3.8L engine in your 993. Do you happen to know if your car was born with that engine, or did it find the car in the aftermarket after the fact? The reason I'm so curious is that I've read a few times now that the 3.8L engine was never shipped in any 993 cars for the North American market, and so it would be really interesting to confirm that detail. I am in the process of attempting to import a 993 C4S with X51 from Europe for a client, and so of course we went down a rabbit hole about the availability (or lack thereof) of the X51 power kit on the 993 in general.

This is an awe inspiring thread. Well done!
