I installed the Continental 7416 two years ago and love it. It looks period specific and the sound quality and clarity on phone calls is great. Tore was great to work with. Considered the Classic Radio at the time and decided that the small screen for navigation missed the mark. PM me if any specific questions come up.

I love mine.

The good.
  • Bluetooth works great. Streaming via spotify, apple music, waze, etc.
  • Looks period correct- colors, design, style, etc. makes it look like it was meant for our cars.
  • Navigation works great, albeit the screen is too small- but I purchased this primarily for streaming, so no biggie.
The bad.
  • Cost
  • Navi screen (but like I said above, not a huge deal since I use my phone for navi)
  • AM/FM doesn't sounds as good as am... if you still listen to the radio. LOL
In summary, I would do this again simply for streaming and aesthetics

Anybody have current information about the classic radio status? I was planning to get one, but not interested in waiting until the end of the year. Will likely get a Continental from Tore instead. Or in the meantime.

Thanks. Did you end up with a Continental?

I just purchased the update blaupunkt Brennan. Has Bluetooth, etc and looks period/model correct with amber lighting.

Plenty of examples on the forums of people who did put the effort in and did a nice job though.
Isn't most of the benefit to these expensive systems the GPS? Seems like a waste of money and laziness to buy one and not install the GPS.

Porsche Classic radio is (to me anyway) the best compromise when you don't have the original unit at purchase. With a totally original car I'd be inclined to leave the unit as per the build sheet in place. A car is original only once. For a driver car (like mine) PCM all the way 👍

I have both and honestly the one to have in the car in the new Porsche classic. The original is in a box but the functionality and modern feel the new one brings to the experience is 10/10.

Is there any way to make the Bluetooth auto connect for PCRN? Cumbersome to be fiddling clicking the touch screen each time I start the car

I only set it up once and it connects via Bluetooth every time automatically. For the Porsche classic radio that is.

Oh - sorry didn't mean connecting, meant navigating to the default Bluetooth audio output. I always have to click media, wait for the BT audiostreaming to turn white then click that. Wondering if there's a way to auto connect to that
