Default To Porsche Classic Radio or Not

Since I bought the 993 last month, I was convinced that I’d want a Porsche Classic Radio. Mainly for Bluetooth interrogation and sound streaming.
when the car came, something about it that wants me to leave it exactly the way it came from the factory. Although I am not a purist. I did find out that there is some installation involved with wires for mic, satellite, etc.... for me, even in my Tesla - I use google-maps not GPS. So I’ve decided to move forward with as cheap temporary solution, that I actually really like.

This work for me, because 99% of the time in this car, I want to hear the motor, maybe will listen to music here and there but most likely require a lot of phone time due to the nature of work. This allows me to settle in the car and see how my experience with it will evolve, then make a decision.

Curious what others think - Porsche classic radio looks period correct with a screen and I love it just because. However, Irving is more period correct than what’s currently in this beautiful 1995 with 17K miles! link on youtube with my thoughts:

If that C57 works, great, use it. If not, get a set of air pods or the like.

Idk how often you plan to drive the car but if it's an occasional/ weekend car then the above solution should be sufficient.

Leave the radio original. My .02

I listen to music in my 993 and it's the original, but to get music from my phone I use a Bluetooth / FM adapter that plugs into my cigarette lighter and then a rennline phone mount to keep my phone visible for GPS. I find it to be the best combo of functionality without removing the original radio.

Right, so here is my setup with the rennline mount + FM adapter since that gives me all I want / need for music and GPS in my 993.

I got the Porsche Classic- it simply looks better than anything else and most importantly... it's from Porsche. It even comes with 993 style ***** that will match your HVAC *****.

The wiring is plug and play- no modifications to your loom/harness and the addition of the GPS and optional Sirius antenna is completely reversible. I installed mine in less than an hour including making a cup of tea.

If you sell your vehicle, put back the original. Easy.

I put one of the Continental radios in my C4. Period-appropriate styling, with bluetooth, and very reasonable.

Your 95 must have been later in the build cycle because I also own a 95 built in September of 1994 and I have a CR-1 Radio. I had these guys... www.creativecaraudioshop.com install a bluetooth connector on the back end of the radio. I can manually play music from my iPhone on the FM button. I went this route because I wanted the period look. The shop was great at communicating with me as well. Highly recommend.

You can have BT added to your current radio. Advantage: cheap/easy, retains the beautiful OE look. Disadvantage: it's still the terrible OE radio. I went this route and I'm content not thrilled. But I don't care that much about the radio and I like the OE look a lot.

Installed the same and very happy with both look and function. Bluetooth connects flawlessly on multiple devices and great to steam music while seamlessly using google maps, etc. I added the small PORCHE sticker Tore provides. Looks perfect.

I didn't think that option was available for the CDR-210. OP, contact Becker AutoSound in NJ.

They will tell you what's possible with your radio.

Based on your original post and needs just send the radio to Becker for the Bluetooth mod. For $200 it sounds like it’ll do the job for you. Works great for me and iPhone for navigation.
