Clutch replacement parts, LWF
Hi All,
After 120k miles, I need a new clutch and will be going with the LWF. I already have a Steve Weiner chip and a clean ISV so I'm hoping there will be no stall issues on my '95. Seems like a lot of folk have worked through this and I've seen the ISV mods for a 3 degree adjustment as well as a small hole in the throttle butterfly (I will hold off on these for now) I have no aspirations to increase HP of my motor and as it is only using about 1qt per 2500 miles, this will be simply a clutch/FW replacement, leaking seal/rubber replacement and removal of any mouse nests encountered along the way.
Before I spend several grand on parts, I'd really appreciate an extra set of eyes on my parts list and a check on a few parts compatibility Here's the shopping list so far:
964 102 239 31 LW Flywheel (single mass)
996 116 015 32 Clutch disc (Euro RS)
964 116 028 03 Pressure plate (stock, not -90 RS 240mm PP - I only have 243 ft.lbs torque and want to keep stock slave)
944 116 080 00 Release bearing (this has bigger "ears" for thinner FW correct?)
950 116 813 30 Clutch guide tube (this is longer for increased FW-transmission distance correct?)
964 114 143 31 Ring gear
931 102 111 00 Pilot bearing
928 102 151 01 Bolts, FW - Crank, M10 x 24, (shorter then stock M10 x 62)
N 014 715 3 Bolts, PP - FW, M8 x 45 (I also see 999 510 015 02 M8 x 40 so not sure which is correct here, help please!)
900 067 103 01 Bolts, ring to FW, M8 x 45 (can't find these in parts catalog, can anyone confirm?)
I'm thinking I should replace the release fork bearing parts:
999 113 418 40 Gasket
999 201 339 00 Bush
950 116 725 00 Cover
999 201 365 00 Bush
950 116 715 01 Bush
Is this recommended or is cleaning sufficient?
Lastly, in the various kits I see there are 5 washers associated with the release bearing, do these come with the release bearing or must they be ordered separately, if so does anyone have P/N's for them?
Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to adding some lightness.

there are shops like FD, Ultimatemotorwerks(rennlist member Kevin) and FVD that sell complete kits so you don't have to deal with making sure you order correct part #'s.
sunset probably has a kit also.

Agree with above poster - not sure why you don't just get a bundled package from FDM or a similar shop. I bought my RS clutch/LWFW from FDM and it was a pretty thorough parts list, nicely packaged. The cost was actually better than if I purchased them separately from Pelican. They are pretty helpful over the phone if you needed to hash out the details.

^^^ Interesting. Mine came with bearings. Maybe they updated the kit, though I did clarify that it came with the fork bearings before I ordered. Worth calling them before ordering, I think.

Thanks for replies. I did see the pelican and FD kits but the parts lists (as they were) didn’t jive with the pictures.
ill give them a call and see if I can clarify and report back

OP - to your original question, based on what I just put in my car last winter:
944 part is correct release bearing for the LWF
900 067 103 01 Bolts, ring to FW, M8 x 45 is correct, need 9
You can probably get away with greasing the clutch fork bearings but they're not expensive to replace. Depending on condition you might want to replace the fork itself (99711608690) if it's at all worn where it meets the TO bearing.

So both Pelican and FD Motorsports supply the RS 240mm Pressure Plate 964 116 028 90.
In an earlier thread (see k722070's post above) Jason made these comments about the PP:
Has anyone experienced any problems with the RS PP reduced clamping force in a stock, non VR 993; seeing as Porsche thought the change was necessary?
In an earlier thread (see k722070's post above) Jason made these comments about the PP:
Assuming the dealer's parts catalog (and service technik) is correct and that I'm not reading too much into it you might be better off with your existing pressure plate. Starting with MY92 all normally aspirated 964s were delivered with the RS pressure plate. When the 993 was released with more horsepower and torque Porsche used a stronger pressure plate with greater clamping force and used the same plate for all NA models including the RS3.8 and Clubsport (which was delivered with a LWF). If someone had the Sachs application/part number for the 993 pressure plate you might be able to lookup the clamping force in their catalog and confirm this. 993 owners may actually be doing themselves a disservice installing the 964 pressure plate!
