Default Broken plastic in 993 engine bay

Hi to all!!
i noticed that in my 1995 Porsche 993 the plastic part right above the fan is broken. (See photo)
I found it online and I plan to replace it at the next service.
Can someone explain to me the purpose of this piece and if it is dangerous for my engine to wait 1-2 months until the next service to replace it ? Thanks !!

Very common, with numerous threads on this issue. It's a simple DIY replacement. Rubber dries out and cracks. No need to pay someone to do it. Just did mine a month or so ago.

Air duct.....tight but not difficult fix and something that is quite common in general.

That is something you can replace easily yourself. There are a few bolts holding it on you loosen and it comes off and replace with new.

That duct forces air into your heater blower. If you want your heater to work well in the interim you can slap on some duct tape to hold you over until you replace the part.

Note there are two part numbers listed for this duct. The part number you want is 964.106.403.02.for an 05/06.

Just replaced mine a few weeks ago. Not too hard at all. This is the correct part # for my 95
