Smile 993 Barnfind

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and would like to introduce myself.

My name is Gert Crosiers I'm from Belgium but live in the Netherlands (Europe), I recently found and bought a Porsche 993 C2.
The car has been in a garage for about 8 or 10 years collecting dust (see first picture), but is in remarkable good shape!
I started working on the car to get it in technical good condition.
I allready found some good technical advice and information on this forum, and I would also like to share my progress with the car.
regards Gert

Gert,
Wonderful find! I would love to bring a discarded or heavily-damaged 993 back to life.

I can offer you my ex-girlfriend? She's not a 993, but equally pretty and expensive to maintain and definitely heavily damaged....

How I found the car?
I was looking for a aircooled Porsche 911, i like the looks of the 991T, 991L and 911S but the ones for sale need a lot of work and are overpriced.
So I started to look some younger, i'm not so fond with the 911SC, I like the 964, but really love the looks of the 993. after reading many forums it seems like the 993 is the best car of all worlds.
I'ts a aircooled porsche, with the best handling, has power steering , AC and more power then the older Porches.

I went to a few porsche specialists, but did not find what i was looking for.
But when i visited a cardealer who loves porsches and has his own private collection, I told him i was looking for a aircooled porsche and would like to see his Porsches.
He had a 997, Boxter, a few nice Caymans, but then he showed me a two 911SC in mint condition one was prepared for racing on the track, then he had a 964 on the side.
And then in a lost corner i asked him "what about that one there? that seems to be a 993? "
he replied " Yes, I bought that one a long time a go, actually I bought two 993's, the other car was a turbo and i prepared the 993 turbo for driving on the track and have raced with it.
But this one drives pretty good actually, I drove it home, parked it, and it has been standing here ever since."
I could not beleive my ears? what a shame. I asked him "Is the 993 for sale? You have porsches enough, you can't fix them all, I would like to have him as it is."
He looked at me for a minute, and then replied what he would like to get from the car as i would take it as it is. Then he showed me all the papers, a complete service book and most of all the invoices of the maintenance. I called my brother in law who owned several Porsches and asked his opinion, and soon after that I bought my first Porsche.
I told him not to wash the car and leave the dust as it is, and this is how he brought the car home.

The interior is Flamenco Red, I like the Flamenco red and black combination of the most cars, but I have never seen a car completly in red like this one.
It is a bit too much red for my taste, (after the car is technical in good condition) I will clean all the leather and would like to add black floor mats, a black steering wheel and the center of the dash in black.

I engine is out of the car and I have replaced the DMF for a LWF flywheel, and I am waiting for the new RS Clutch.
I also will be replacing the clutch-fork bearings, the flywheel bearing and the clutch slave cylinder and hose.
and reinstalling some parts that have been removed, like the AC compressor and the cruise control actuator.

While waiting i sandblasted the engine tin and painted it with a primer. hopefully I have time tomorrow to sand it and paint it with 2K topcoat.
Since I did not find the colourcode for the engine tin anywhere, I have had a local automotive paint suplier mixed the exteriorcolour L747 in a satin paint finish.
So my engine tin will be the exact same black colour then the car, but with a satin gloss finish.

Guaranteed the 993 will be cheaper, not as damaged/twisted and more fun.
