Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB
I bit the bullet last week and pulled the trigger on a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB (modern reissue of the original Bremen SQR 46). Not currently sold in the US (presumably since there is no DAB support here), so I purchased from a seller in the UK via eBay. A bit pricey but half the cost of a (currently unavailable) Porsche Classic radio.
My car came with a Kenwood headunit which, like most headunits, looks pretty out of place. I'm not a fan of how most look in our cars because they look too modern in styling. Our interiors borrow a lot of style from 964's and even a 90's Alpine headunit looks out of place in my opinion for an interior that was updated for the 80's. I really don't like the shiny look of most units, with buttons that look very out of place and detachable faceplates with trim rings.
I narrowed my list down to the Blaupunkt and the Porsche Classic radio a few months ago. The Porsche Classic obviously has buttons that exactly match our climate controls but the one thing that irks me is the screen, as I'm personally on the fence about having a nav screen visible for some of the same reasons as above. Given you currently cant get the Porsche radio, that made my decision easier... get the Blaupunkt.
Here's some pics I took after it showed up this morning. Figured I'd share as I haven't seen anyone post one on here and only a few brief mentions over the last few months. Looks great next to our CCU. Has Bluetooth capabilities and includes a discreet mic. It's a very compact unit with some nice attention to detail. For example, the integrated right angle adapter for the antenna with the clip which is also removable if you'd like to run the antenna straight in. It has a USB connection on the back and also another hidden under the faux "cassette" flap, along with a memory card slot and a mini phono input. The rear has all the expected connections for power, speakers and RCA pre-amp outs if you're using amplifiers. There's an input for remote steering wheel control (optional) and if you're wondering the little gold plug is the connection for the include DAB antenna (won't be using that in the USA). Lastly, the illumination can be selected from something like 200 different color shades.

newbie question: would it be a direct swap with a CDR-210? any other things to note while installing?
Looks like the exact aesthetic I was going for too. Porsche Classic Radio's touch screen seemed a little out of place.
The overdone ***** and buttons look so much more at home in this car.

Here's a few more pics I took which show all the accessories included.
- Power and speaker harnesses (with standard "aftermarket" speaker color codes: purple, white, green, grey)
- Microphone for integrated Bluetooth calls
- DAB antenna (for our Euro friends)
- Headunit removal keys
- Remote control (pointless)
BTW, I was wrong... it is 700+ color shades, not 200. I powered up the unit with a 12V cordless tool battery to take a few pics. You can create any color hue you'd like by individually setting the R, G, B color values from 0-16 each.
Also, the headunit has faux holes on the sides which are not actually used to remove the headunit. They're there to simply add some 80s/90s styling. Shown in the pics below is a small rubber cover which you pull out to insert the typical modern style headunit removal keys that unlatch the mounting chassis and lock into the headunit to securely pull it out.

This thing looks pretty sweet, especially with the preouts. When you hook up the USB cord, will it work wit an iPhone as a source?
Thanks

Thanks for the additional pictures.
This head-unit plus the Porsche stickers on Tore's website, would make for a compelling near stock look.

Now just waiting on the T-Lights to be back in stock to make a big order over there...

I'd imagine any recent version will work. This radio was released not long ago. You can connect an iPod/iPhone to either the front or rear USB's or connect them via Bluetooth. The only limitation seems to be you cant charge two iPhones simultaneously. Bummer, as I was looking forward to that capability. Guessing there isn't sufficient USB power to charge two modern iPhones.

^Thank you, super helpful. I’ll have to put this on my list of things to do.

Three Wheelin'
Just installed in my 964 as well and super happy. Interface when using it is at best a B+ when it comes to the UI but fits the period correct look with modern tech very nicely. I paired it w some Hertz front and rear speakers and so far quite happy as is. Might consider an amp down the road but for now quite pleased.
