Default Gear Oil

In my 993 C4S gearbox went with their Rx and used Redline

75W90NS GL-5 GEAR OIL.

I just ordered PTX from Suncoast this morning. Seemed to be the recommendation for street use from the couple of threads I read through.

Just did a transmission oil change last week and was deciding between:
  • Redline 75W90NS gear oil
  • Driven Racing - GO 75W90 LS gear oil
  • Motul Gear 300 LS 75W90

==> decided to go with Motul Gear 300 LS 75W90.

I've used redline ns and Mobil Delvac, no real discernable difference between the two. For a normally driven street car, I'd go PTX

How often do you guys change your transmission oil? According to the book it's every 80.000km (50.000mi) but since many of the 993s may not be driven that much today it might be many years between every 80.000km...

Good question. Last time my transmission gear oil was changed was 4 years ago. And 25k miles later. I thought it was time since I was under the car and did my yearly oil change for the coming season.

I just had trans rebuilt and installed a Guards TBD. Mostly AX with some street use. Whats the recommendation for Trans Oil. Will need to change in 800 miles, but with CV lockdown... that may take a year ;-)....

Copans continues to recommend Delvac 75/90. I can't think of a more reliable source.
