+1 Scott Finlay. He did his version of PPI on my 964 he was very through...keep in mind he doesn't do traditional PPIs. But I'd talk to him and see what he says.

FWIW, I spoke with Scott Finlay. He is no longer doing PPIs.

I think it’s important to highlight the difference between Champion (the dealer) and Champion Motorsports (the multiple Le Mans winner shop). I’ve only had positive experiences with Champion Motorsports, everyone has treated me extremely well and their prices are very reasonable on many things. Weirdly, some things are very expensive but others are very well priced.

There’s a British guy at Champion Motorsports that has been working with air cooled Porsches for many years, so he definitely knows his stuff with these older cars.

Either way, KMW is a great place as well as 9 Automotion in North Palm Beach. TuneRS is good as well but can be expensive.

I would avoid Vertex and Parkhaus1.

Good luck

My experience was at Champion Motorsport. Took them a 993 C4S for PPI about 3-4 years ago. May as well have been a spaceship because they didn't even know where to begin or know what they were looking at. And trying to sound like they knew something made them sound even more ignorant. Now - take them a GT3RS and it might be a different story. Computers tell you all you need to know. Again, just my experience.
100% agree about Vertex and PH1. Stay away !!

Absolutely have it inspected at Foreign Affairs Motorsports in Pompano. Bob Varela is the master of air cooled Porsches and his business is honest and trustworthy. He probably has more experience working directly with Porsche than all of Champion put together. If Bob's not available to pick up the phone, either of his sons Bobby or Jared will take good care of you.

I asked to bring to Foreign Affairs. Seller is adamant with using either Vertex or Parkhaus due to their close geographic location. I offered having the car delivered to Bobby via flatbed. He won’t allow an out of town PPI as he has had some "bad experiences" in the past. I did speak to Bob Hindson Racing today., the ones responsible for the engine rebuild 2k miles ago. They saw the car about 400 miles ago, and all was running smoothly. The pPI in this case is just to make sure what I am buying is what’s advertised. Any ideas? Recommendations?

I heard an interesting rumor about Foreign Affairs... Bob sold it to his daughter for business reasons as his son In law is a principal of HG Greg, an used car dealer in S Fla. So now H G Greg uses Foreigh Affairs as (non ) independent shop for PPI.

Rumors. HGregg exotic car dept has been using FA for service for years. Bob Sr. Retired. His son Bobby runs day to day operations at the shop. They’ve been servicing my cars for years. Do not hesitate to get a PPI at Foreign Affairs, or service a car there for that matter.

I am local in Miami and wr know who to stay away from. Happy to continue to point anyone in the right direction if interested in a local car.

Yes, Bobby is managing the shop but that doesn't counter the fact that H Greg has taken an ownership in Foreign Affairs which would end it being an independent shop.

@JAB12 Any recommendations for a PPI closer to downtown Miami by any chance? All those mentioned seem to be quite a bit north (Orbit, KMW, TuneRS, Scott Finlay, MGM)

Wow, talk about reviving a thread. What car and from which dealer are you looking to buy from? Most private owners are part of our Porsche club. This said, most all the good shops are far from Miami 30-50 miles. Bobby from Foreign Affairs travels too, but the PPI is more expensive that way. Maybe you can try Parkhaus1 which is not too far from downtown Miami. I haven't used them in years so cannot vouch for how current they are in these services.

Good luck!.

@JAB12 As the post was for the same topic, I just thought to revive it again
It would be a 997 Turbo from Ferco Motors in Miami.
I was looking for a typical PPI but ideally also a borescope inspection for some more insights.

That's fine. You're going to need a specialist for that if you are looking for bore and oil analysis etc. I would insist on sending the car further to one of the aforementioned shops. Hope it all works out.
