So in July of 2018 I posted a thread about a “rare opportunity” my brother casually mentioned selling his 1997 C2. I, of course said I was 100% interested and that we could figure out the price but that I was willing to pay whatever as I knew the history and it is cherry. I ask him to send me the vin so I can get the build sheet etc. He sends me a photo of it but then tells me that when he took the cover off to get a pic of the vin he just realized it was too nice and couldn’t part with it. I was obviously bummed but I understood.
Fast forward to mid May 2020, I’m goofing around in the garage and he calls and states that he’s again ready to sell, “I love the car but I just don’t use it and it needs to be driven. I don’t have to sell but if you still want it, I’m ready to let it go.” By this time he’s moved it to his hangar and it sits covered on carpet flooring. I’m thinking maybe this time he’s ready to let it go but I’m not getting my hopes up. I decide to fly up and do some general aviation flying with him and talk about the car sale. Stayed for a week and minimal talk about the car but he has said I can buy it. I don’t want to press too hard but I’m thinking it’s a done deal. I go home after we decide a price and I say I’m ready to transfer the money. He texts and says he doesn’t want to rush this......I’m thinking omg here we go again. I immediately call and ask if he’s getting cold feet, he says no and that he just has a lot of things going on with some aircraft maintenance and family stuff. Whew, dodged that bullet. So 3 weeks later the car arrives.
The car is amazing, he took incredible care, everything original with the exception of the twists. So I am happy to be joining the 993 club and look forward to really learning about these amazing machines.
Replaced frunk struts, not too bad. Most time spent was securing the hood up at the right height. Only 3 things required:
1. Patience
2. Long, skinny screwdriver
3. Small flashlight

It’s already beginning, changing all fluids, new tires, alignment, pad keeper, new stone guards and spare dme relay. Suspension refresh and fister 2’s eventually.
