Blinker Audio
Not a stunning title but not sure how to describe
the meager sound of the blinkers- which turns to inaudible
at speed or with the window down. And on those
turns that are not enough of an arc to auto cancel, the
failure to manually cancel the indicator is annoying
to other cars and me.
Does anyone else experience this issue and is there an interest
in solving it?

It happens to me often, especially with Fister 3's. The "click-click" is just the flasher contacts opening and closing, not electrically generated like the door chime. No reason it can't be modded....

Go on Jay, you know you want to: Jay@EZBlinker....
I leave them on sometimes, it's an old car thing - character - I think they call it. Or an old man thing.
I'd like a solution for the stalks thatfeel like they are made out of cheap bendy plastic.

It might be possible to wire in some sort of sound generator to the blinker relay (short of running a wire to the horns). Maybe one of the electronics engineers that are on this forum will "chime" in...
This function is monitored by my wife if she is in the car. My hearing is pretty well shot from lots of loud noise exposure and advanced decrepitude.

Hi Bobby,
I suspect the turn signal indicator can be rigged up with a piezoelectric buzzer that would indicate at a higher frequency and decibel level solving your problem. Should be quite easy purchasing two $8 buzzers and attaching one each to the wires that power the turn signal bulb elements. Piezo buzzers draw very little current.
This one is rated at 100db sound pressure level at 2500HZ and draws only 58mA current:

I have never had an issue with the turn signal cancel function of our cars. Seeing that it is an electro-mechanical system the only reasonable aftermarket way to address it would be to add a time-out relay in line from the stalk switch, but that would probably add unintended performance issues at other times.
Andy ;-)

I’m always double checking the dash to see if the turn indicator is lit up because the noise is barely audible.
And don’t get me started on the weird door ajar buzzing noise (not the seatbelt chime)

Hi Andy,
Great idea! It looks like this buzzer even has a "choke" to modulate the sound. Several comments on the product page from people who used them for enhanced turn signal warning.

Threw together a quick blinker enhancement circuit showing what could be done with $2 in parts. The video is normal vs enhanced blinking with the Fister 3's at idle. You can get much louder but I think the enhancement is effective without being annoying.

I need this! Can you provide some more details for those of us who aren’t familiar with this stuff?
