Andy. I think he wants to know how to replace an oil cooler fan resistor in a '97 Carrera. He probably neglected to provide the information in the appropriate areas.

Hi G H Sanders,
One can replace the originals resistors. Searching this discussion group will reveal other experiences replacing them.

See the section "AC Fan Resistor Replacement" on this page:
http://p-car.com/diy/fan/

Also, take a look at this page:
https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...wer-speed.html

and this page:
https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...ooler-and.html

Hope this helps,
Andy

When I was new to this forum many moons ago if a question like this was asked by a non member for one and not having done a search for two, all hell would break loose.

Either we're all mellowing with time or those among us who are easily vexed by this have moved on. Just saying........

Hi Greg,

Yes, the good old days when a member would have the perception of excessive oil consumption and the replies would immediately jump to a discussion of who to use for a $Top-End$ rebuild rather than ask them how they measure their oil fill;-),

More seriously if a new person shows up on the forum the best way to encourage them to become a paying member is for them to see value in their involvement. Hence the useful reply.

Andy ;-)

No-one in particular, many in general. Just seemed to be the way it was done. I'm sure many people didn't want to ask a question for fear of being belittled.
