I'm not saying they could build an -exact- duplicate (well they could if it was more expensive) but still not understanding why it has to be the size it is when you can buy cars like an Alfa 4C, Miata, Exige, etc....

Not so much the size as the proportions. Miata is a good example, look at how the nose and beltline on those has evolved. The new ones are like Conestoga wagons.

Agreed on the Miata. Alfa 4c nose looks rather low

I think this is also partly why brands have those huge obnoxious grills on their cars now; you gotta do something with that big nose! But I think we are getting off topic here...

The 911 has to grow in size to make the Cayman (and Boxster) logical, as the latter has grown ever so slightly larger than a 993.

Back to the original topic: since 993 production numbers are so low relative to most other sports cars, it doesn't take that many 'younger folks' to notice and fall in love w/ them to maintain a healthy interest.

My neighbor's boy that is 10yo knows about my 993 and 911 and would always comment on how cool they are, just yesterday he passes by and points to my GT3 and ask if that's a GT2...I was shocked a 10yo knows so much about Porsche . Thanks to google and social media.

Even the MINI has "evolved"(?) into much larger and more models than the iconic Series 1. Like Porsche and so many other marques, they feel obligated to be "all things to all people".
