Younger Generations on 993
Took my car out this morning and was stopped at a red light. Heard a honk from two lanes away and turned my head to look, saw a young girl looks no more than 20 years old in a civic rolled down her window and yelled "I Love Your Car!". I nodded my head and said "Thanks" but was a little shocked getting compliments from her. I also had an experience few weeks ago at a Starbucks parking lot that couple high school kids came up and asked if they can take pictures of my car and asked what mods I have done on it? Not sure if others have similar experience, but glad to see the younger generations are still interested in these classic cars...there's still hope for the future!

I’ve had similar things happen to me. My car is speed yellow with black full leather interior. Guys surround it on a ferry...people give thumbs up on the road. And surprisingly a lot are young...I’d say high school to 30s, and older also. One time, a couple of high school girls approached...asked if it was a Ferrari! Haha, should of heard me laugh. A couple of photos later and a fun chat, they were on there way. 993s are unique these days.

haha, kindest words I had was on a red light, a very old lady with a walking stick paused in front of the car on the zebra lane, and said ' very beautiful car '
I still remember, since in Paris, the locals hate cars

took my car to Jiffy Lube for the emissions test last week and every single guy working there came over to check the car out and say how much they loved it. All were under the age of 25. I get all ages give me a thumbs up almost every single time i drive my car. I think it just shows you what a beautiful/clasic car it really is.

I haven't driven my 993 yet. But I get that with the 930. I really liked seeing younger people enjoy them, takes me back to when that was me.

My wife and I were painting the exterior of our house last summer when she said, “I think that kid across the street (in the park) likes your car”. The car was on the street for some reason, and the kid (14) was looking at it from a respectful distance. Easy decision to stop painting and go chat with him. He was there to play tennis with his dad, and when it was clear he was really interested I offered them a ride. As we were getting ready to leave I realized the dad was a friend of mine from high school who I’d long lost contact with. Thank god I wasn’t a jerk! Anyway dad stayed behind but my son and I took the kid for an enthusiastic ride and I reconnected with an old friend. Plus I got a reprieve from painting, talk about win-win.

I'm the original owner of a '96 C2 (black/tan) and I honestly get almost as many complements today as I did when I drove it off the lot 25 years ago (gulp). They remain beautiful automobiles if you enjoy cars - modern looking but also so much more compact than the newer cars.
Funny aside from earlier this month. I've been starting to think that maybe it's time to look at a newer car - something I can daily or take on trips with my wife. I took my 993 over to the local dealership (in Atlanta) and parked it in an open space next to a line of new and recent 911's for sale. While I was inside looking at a few new models, no less than 3 customers (2 of them couples) pulled in and made a beeline for my car. Two of the men tried to open it while the sales guys were scrambling to steer them to something they could sell - and to make sure they didn't get in and start messing with it I guess. I sat there with the classic Porsche sales guy watching this and he said - "you sure you really want to consider this?" It was honestly both amusing and impressive that the old girl still holds her own even amongst all her younger and more muscular siblings.

Air cooled Porsches make people happy. It's a scientific fact.
