I'm doing it all wrong: I have a 996 three spoke wheel in the car and am about to downgrade to a cup steering wheel.
I am looking to move in a similar direction. Early airbags are HUGE compared to current cars. The interior of the 993 just seems like the right place for a non-airbag wheel.
This is what I've been eyeing for a while. The haters will have a field day with this mod.
19's don't fit on a 993
Turbo front bumper should only be on a turbo 993
Turbo rear spoiler should only be on a turbo 993

My mods are for me and no one else. Wasn't planning on making the car more "track-ready", but I've been feeling the need for better steering tactility and missed having that with the race car and the Momo Mod .07.
18's look weird on coupes with a basket handle. IDK why, I guess because they never came from the factory with them.
Also the Porsche classic radio is stupid and a complete waste of money. The touch screen and interface is terrible, the price is crazy, you are never going to use the GPS when you have your phone right with you and it doesn't really match the aesthetics of the cars. Just go for something like the Continental or the Blaupunkt if you really want to just burn money.

-Rennline pedals and floorboards are nice, but the Track Mats are NOT the business
-WB ranking is: C2S > Turbo > C4S
-Rear Wiper is pretty cool??
-The most timeless, perennial Interior color is ultimately one choice: BLACK.

"Porsche engineers know/knew best" is total bull****. Porsche was a corporation, and anyone who has worked in one knows the level of incompetence ingrained in any and all corporations. The perfect decision is never made. Also, it was basically bankrupt around the time the 993 was developed, so more than a few corners were cut. Several design decisions were also exceedingly stupid.
