As I discovered during ports flush to remedy SAI error, the port on that one seems to be the most clogged, so I had hopes it would make a difference. I decided to stop after replacing just one because even with this tool putting back(or more like sticking back) the keepers was a nightmare. I was prepared to drop the engine if it didn't fix the problem. However it worked! It's been several months now of smoke-less startups so that stem seal indeed seems to be the culprit.
