Default RSR Mufflers - where to purchase?

Any other recommendations on where to purchase RSR style mufflers other than Carnewal? http://www.carnewal.com/products/993/p93136/RSR-Mufflers-Made-from-New-Mufflers

thanks

For sure the sound your after? I’ve gone through them all and in nearly every combo between the three part system.

Maxflos are cheaper that can be modded. Or the very nice OEM Motorsound. Either way, min $750 for a used set. If your up for Carweek, I can let you borrow a pair of Maxflos. We can chat more for the arrangement if interested.

Ah - the Maxflo’s do have a good sound.

After a good amount of research on here and reading a lot of enthusiasm for the Fister 2 & 3 stage products, I do not find their notes to match the look of a 993 - too much ‘muscle’. I am definitely drawn more towards the OEM motor sound and then that Maxflo sounds like a good option too, after watching a couple videos.

I have searched for motorsound packages, but no luck sourcing them. Any recommendations on oem manufacturers?

I (think I) like the RSR product as well, but could be too intense for what I am striving for.

YouTube videos can be very difficult to correctly discern a true exhaust note. I want to stay away from anything that drowns the 993’s air cooled cry.

Thanks for the info - what are the dates of Carweek?

I can imagine…

Doesn’t make sourcing a proper note easy. Looks like it might be a mix of trial and error and some meet ups to really dial it in.

I have a friend in SoCal with RSR mufflers on his 993. He was looking to trade them for Fisters (can't remember if 2s or 3s). It may be easier to source Fisters and trade him for his RSRs instead of trying to find a place domestically to buy RSRs. PM me if you want me to connect you with him.

Default LPMM - Short circuit muffler mod does the trick . . . .

Ryanonarcher -
The LPMM muffler modification has a tailor-made 911 air-cooled resonance/exhaust note. .. The Leyland Pete Muffler Mod, simply known as the "LPMM" was an early trailblazer in search of an enhanced 993 exhaust note. ..
The 993 3.6l unlike the 911's before it, was uber quiet. .. Swiss cow quiet right out of the new car box. .. I'd follow suit one weekend with mufflers in hand, having arranged a local muffler shop to graft the foot-long "short circuit" pipe to each muffler can. .. Afterwards the coupe's new take-notice exhaust had just the right bark. .. An exhaust note character Porsche AG would never get by any regulators. .. Sure louder 993 exhausts there are many,, and each version sounds dynamite putting a smile & grin on your face. .. At the end of the day though,,, you're glad that it's on someone else's 993. ..
The LPMM exhaust note on the other hand plays its proportional part in that ole air-cooled flat-six orchestra .....

https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...m-img_3187.jpg .. A simple internet search of the term LPMM 993 does the trick.

Are you referring to the RSR muffler from ROBIN SUN? They are modified factory mufflers, modified by Robin Sun.
They are a great improvement over the stock muffler in both sound and performance.
… I have had them on my 96 Carrera for 20 years! No longer available.

p-car.com is still a very useful site.
thanks Robin👏

I went from stock mufflers to RSR's, to Fister Stage 2s to Fister Stage 3s, I have had the 3s for years now and love 'em. My $0.02 for best 993 exhaust is the stage 3s.

I've had RSR's for going on 20years. Not too noisy, no drone, a nice crackle on letup when cold and as others have said they get better with age. Wouldn't swap 'em for quids.

Agree. On my 3rd round with 3 993 cars. Always my first mod. Perfect sound reminiscent of the more throaty 964.

I have a 95 and started with RSRs for about 2 years. I later traded to Fister stage 3s for about 3 years and now I’m running Fister stage 2s for the past 2 years. Truthfully all three are excellent in their own right but definitely different in tone and loudness. This is a topic of debate all the time with owners. I suggest going to a Pcar event and listen to all of them if possible and decide for your own taste. Sorry I cannot provide a clear winner but I have enjoyed all of them. RRC

Default By the way

Ask how old the muffler is. The RSR change over time, deeper throat. No experience with other modified types.

I'm not sure were to source the RSRs other than the used market.
I've had Robin's mufflers on my C2S for about 18 years. They replaced a set of Fabspeeds that were on for about six months, that replaced the original mufflers that i had for the first few months of ownership.
That should indicate how much i like their sound.
