Default M030 or M033 springs with 18" wheels?

I have a noobie 993 question on euro spec dropping my 993 that I really couldn't find easily online. I picked up a 993 Targa and put on 18" Carrera 3 wheels (as I couldn't find MY02) and also have a set of Koni yellow struts / shocks to do the swap but nothing else as of yet.

Question 1: As I'm running 18" vs 17" stock wheels. With the lower side wall tire should I go for the softer M033 spring? Its a street car.
Question 2: Do I need new top strut mounts?
Question 3: Drop links and sway bars. Do I really need to replace them. I can see maybe the links.
Question 4: Can't seem to find M033 springs anywhere or sold out, who is a good vendor of springs and links.

Thanks
Sean

I recently replaced my stock springs and shocks only with the M033 ROW on my 54kmil coupe and very happy.
Jason @ Paragon was great to work with and had stock on these as of 2wks ago
I purchased the package with shocks/struts but you can buy just the springs.
I'll let other more knowledgeable people respond to your other questions.

Springs and wheels are very much a question of individual preference. Mine has had RoW M030 + Bilstein HD for years and 30+k miles and is fine for me as a DD with both 18s and 17s. I've had and replaced US M030 on 2 cars, they're not progressive and are harsh IMO. Any of your factory spring choices should work fine with the stock strut tops

If you're moving to M030 (RoW I hope) the M030 sways make the package. No change needed with M033.

Question 1: As I'm running 18" vs 17" stock wheels. With the lower side wall tire should I go for the softer M033 spring?
If it's a street-driven car.
With the proper tire size specified by Porsche, the total diameter with either size wheel is the same so it shouldn't make any difference in your decision to lower the car. The attached chart points out that the difference between USA height and the 030 suspensions is only 30mm. If the Koni struts have threaded barrels that allow for moving the spring perch down approximately 30mm you can achieve 030 height while preserving the smoother ride of the original springs. This might be a question for Koni.

Question 2: Do I need new top strut mounts?

I didn't but if you want direct replacement ones JP brand sold through auto parts stores are a lot less expensive than the dealer purchased part even though they may be identical and sourced from the same factory:. This page has some more information the hats and replacing suspension parts in general:
https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...uspension.html

You will need to replace 16 all-metal prevailing torque nuts (lock nuts) as Porsche specifies their replacement when the hats are replaced.

Question 3: Drop links and sway bars. Do I really need to replace them? I can see maybe the links.

Nope, but some do it anyway.
Usually, the original stock links can be used with any install from USA height down to ROW lowered height. If the links have no play and just the grease boots are cracked, just the boots can be replaced as discussed in the above link.

Question 4: Can't seem to find M033 springs anywhere or sold out, who is a good vendor of springs and links.
It seems many folks here source them from https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/

Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it.

Thinking as my car is a Targa (basically with a cab with a glass top) maybe ill shoot for a little softness with the M033 spring as the top rattles and whistles around now (needs work). I plan to get an SC coupe as well and maybe that's better suited for a full front to back stiffer sport suspension.

Oh one last question. Do I need to buy new dust covers for the front and back and also those bump stop rubbers for the rear shocks?

If the original dust covers are ripped or cracked you can consider replacing them.
Generally, if the replacement struts came with bump stops use them. If it didn't then they are not needed.
Here is where to buy the dust covers:

How many miles? When I pulled my shock mounts at 120k they were shot. Rears cracked all the way through. If you are in there, I'd replace them all - but that's just me. I like my suspension to be in great shape since it contributes so much to enjoyment of the car.

There have been good reports here on M033 + Koni Reds, which I'm sure would make a very fine driving car.

Car has around 75K, i'll give the boots a squeeze and see if they are still good. Thats the problem with sitting at the office on my pc, feel the urge to order stuff and just not quite sure I need it lol. BTW... Pelican is having a 20% off Koni sale... I think there are 5 days left.
