New to me C2!
It took a while, but I finally found a nice clean tippy 993! As some know, I’ve owned 4 previous 993’s (5 if you count buying one back after selling it), but the manual clutch caused my hip bursitis to flair up at times and it just wasn’t enjoyable on longer drives.
I saw the car at 9:15 Sunday evening, just shortly after it was posted on the PCA website and by 10:15 I had a tentative deal pending a positive ppi. Ran the Carfax and all clean, did a little history search and found that the current owner and previous owner since 2002 were Rennlisters. Monday morning I tried to get Porsche Plano to do a PPI, but they have stopped doing them. Searched Rennlist and reached out to Rudy for another recommendation in Dallas and both came back with Mayos Performance. I made quick call and had a nice chat with Amy and she said that she would squeeze me in the following morning. Knowing that others were trying to scoop the car by offering more without a PPI and that a round trip to Mayo’s was going to take 5-6 hours, I offered the owner $500 to take it there for me to compensate him for his time and inconvenience. He was great to work with throughout the process and agreed without hesitation.
The car came back with excellent mechanical and interior condition, excellent body, glass and operations, and very good original paint (some ‘patina’ commensurate with age). Mayos was super to deal with and did a 3.5 hour inspection that was very detailed including paint meter and alignment check. All the car needs is a slight alignment, which I had planned to do when I put 18 inch wheels on it. I wired the money on Wednesday afternoon and now I just have to wait on the shipping company!
The car turned 36,000 miles on the return trip from the PPI, Polar Silver with black interior, and of course, the Tiptronic S transmission. I plan to put a set of 18 inch twists on it and replace the aged stone guards and then enjoy!

Thanks guys. Unless you use an escrow service or go and pay in person, you do assume a lot of risk. In my case, we emailed and spoke on the phone, I checked him out on Rennlist, spoke to his service advisor at Porsche, checked him out on LinkedIn, etc. Plus, we communicated numerous times, so I was comfortable with the sale. Got a signed bill of sale before wiring the money with an email trail of all of the details of the transaction. That is really about all you can do I think!

Thanks! They should…they cost $3,000! The owner from 2002 thru 2020, Julie, was a model and swimmer. Living in California and then Hawaii from 2014, she spent lots of time at the beach and sometimes drove home with wet bottoms. So, the seat leather had delaminated a little and the puckering bothered the next owner. The first pic below is the interior before being redone. I’m sure that most of us would have just left them alone. However, the next owner was an extremely fussy fellow and wanted them perfect. He took the car to a very high end upholstery shop in Dallas that focuses on exotics and classics and had new seat covers made and installed. They are a work of art!
Of course, Julie’s jewelry left slight scratches on the plastic console parts, so he had them all replaced with new Porsche parts. Some of the carpet was worn a bit from getting in and out, so he also had an entire new carpet set installed. Why not get a cool 3 spoke steering wheel? Yep, brand new from Porsche Plano for almost $4,000! The result is a cabin that looks virtually brand new 😀. Julie put a new Porsche Classic radio in the car in 2018.

I like stuff that is like new or new, cool that you have that there. Put your own marks on it, hopefully no wet bottoms.

Thanks SToronto! Yep, collecting photos for sure! I’ve been talking with Julie and she is super nice. She did Cosmo, Glamour, Ralph Lauren etc. I found a couple of pics of her with the car in Hawaii at pcar meets.
I likely wouldn’t have changed out the interior parts, but I’m not going to complain! I just need a set of 18 inch twists now!
